Anybody know about mottram or weather or not he is a successful coach? Are his training principles similar to that in which he followed as a athlete? And are all athletes succesful coaches??

Thunder
Buster a coach? He "coaching" girls?
And it's "discus" not discuss in this neighborhood.
Every group in Australia apart from Rinaldi follows the same training principles and weekly structure, and every group has for the last 50 years. Mottram's group is no different.
Not all athletes are successful coaches, and not all coaches were successful athletes. It only takes a quick thought experiment to deduce that.
Mottram is a reasonably successful coach, but the setup of groups in Australia isn't the same as in America with "pro" groups (the only real pro group is MTC under Nic Bideau, Mottram's old coach), so his success is hard to compare. His top athlete is Madeline Hills, who was a 2016 steeple and 5k finalist, although she wasn't training under Mottram then.
Most/many Australian ex athletes coach for the enjoyment and the continued association with the sport.
The club system is strong, and most live in the area they evolved.
Coaching is both a giving back, and a social thing.
There is really no equivalent in the USA. The club system is non-existent, and athletes are often spread throughout the country.
Good for Buster. But he isn't the first ex athlete to coach
Don't move to Australia to be coached by him. If you're already in Australia, don't switch coaches.

He is a pretty low key coach, I don’t believe any of his athletes have ever won nationals and quite a few of the bigger names have moved on.
His principles are similar to the Aussie standard. 3 sessions (Hills, threshold, Fartlek).

Saw him at recent Nat'L XC champs in Australia coaching a few of his juniors before their races.
Successful coach well that is hard to define for anyone. He has been coaching a few years and it will take time to develop his squad as I am sure he has one.
Good luck to him.

Is this the Deecastella/Colhessy complex integral training approach?
