Centro was the better racer and lets be honest got lucky to be in the slowest 1500 in like ever and used his lets be honest very good racing skills to win that gold. I would never consider Centro in the convo for US GOAT though. Webb could be considered on sheer brilliance but its hard to make that case considering how short his pro career was (basically 3.5 healthy years of racing). Lagat I'd say is the clear US GOAT.

Centro’s 1500 conversion might be faster than Webb’s AR mile. Centro never really focused on the mile and certainly didn’t have the perfect time trial set up for it as Webb did.

Centro had a 1:43.17/3:26.69 doper challenging him on the backstretch of that last lap in the 3:50 race as well as a 1:42.6/3:28.8 guy at the height of his powers trying to get him on the homestretch and he still won.

I "discarded" one of Centro's times, not a bunch of them. He is 0.14 seconds ahead of Webb over 1500m, but when you account for the fact that his PR was run in Monaco, and his fastest non-Monaco time is ~1.5 seconds slower, it's pretty easy to give the edge to Webb. Webb's 8:11.48 (7:38.09 pace) is objectively superior to Centro's 7:40.74. Do you understand?
