And I should have a bigger wang.
There's no evidence Centro should have run 3:29. The fastest he has ever run to win a race is 3:33 and he has only run under 3:32 four times in his entire career.

His 13:00 is not a PR because it was done at what might as well have been a downhill course.
I remember when Shannon Rowbury was 2:00/4:00/15:00. She finally got the last one broken (1:59)in 2016.

Well, his 3:30 converts to 3:47 for the mile, and he has Olympic gold, so I don’t think he’s too upset about his PRs.
With his finishing speed, he should focus on medals in the 5,000 now.

+1. Everyone knows MC Escher designed the Michael Vick track at Nike HQ.

Centro ran 1:44.
He needs the TIMES to back up his medals. Olympic Gold in 3:50 is a cool finisher medal but as long as Webb’s 3:46 is the AR, US GOAT is still a discussion and not a statement.

Rupp is much more deserving of the US GOAT title than either Centro or Webb. He is without a doubt the best US runner of the last several decades.
You could also make an argument for Lagat, though much of his success came while he was still competing for Kenya.

It will always be a “discussion” of course, but Webb’s 3:46.9 was done in a small time trial in a perfect setup just like Centro’s 13:00 5,000. Plus, Centro ran the 1500 equivalent of a 3:47 mile and Webb never got any faster than 13:10 for the 5,000. Webb also never did diddly squat in championship races, while Centro has the gold-friggin-Olympic medal.
So, even as I would already say Centro >>> Webb, a 5,000 medal and/or a sub-13:00 would cement his legacy.

Centro Jr is without a doubt the best US racer of the last several decades.
Webb jumped in exactly one 5000m track race when he was in 3:50 or better shape and he ran 13:10.
No telling what he could have run in 2008 if he had been healthy.
Centro never cared that much about times and so didn't chase them on the circuit. He'd run Monaco and maybe one other Euro circuit race every year. He'd like 3:29/3:49 but doesn't require it. He is all about the competition and the medals.

Centro does not throw the Discus

Centro understands slang.

It's odd that someone who is all about competition can't manage to win anything and is a complete non-factor in most international races.

That doesn't make him the US GOAT.

You're allowed to have an opinion, I guess, but you should at least be made aware of the fact that your opinion is wrong.

It still amazes me how a runner who won a gold in the 1500m for the US gets so much hate. He has already had an incredible career and is continuing to prove he's going to be a force to be reckoned with at the world level for years to come.

It’s not hate. It’s more of he needs faster prs to separate himself from the pack to truly be the US GOAT Miler. He’s only the 9th fastest US miler. Even Rupp has gone 3:50.
Webb 3:46.91
Scott 3:47.69
Lagat 3:48.38
Maree 3:48.83
Falcon 3:49.31
Spivey 3:49.80
Harbour 3:50.34
Holman 3:50.40
Centro 3:50.53
Manzano 3:50.64
Byers 3:50.84
Rupp 3:50.92i
Ryun 3:51.1h
He’s now 10th in the 5000 but he got 3rd in a time trial behind Woody and Lopez on an MC Esher downhill short track.
He’s 30th in the 800...
But he is 3rd in the 1500 so that’s ok BUT 5k/10k/‘thon Mo Farah has gone 3:28 twice.
Indoors he’s 2nd in the mile behind Gregorek, 4th in the 1500.

Welp, that's how his PRs are going to stay.
He's past his prime in the 1500m / Mile.
And he is never going to get another perfectly paced opportunity to break 13:00 (and realistically, that's way at the top-end of his capability).

Unfortunately this is most likely true. That time trial was the closest thing to a perfect opportunity that Centro is gonna get, unless they do the same thing next year. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Centro go 3:31/3:32 again, maybe even 3:30-high by some miracle, but his PR’ing day’s are mostly behind him at this late in the game.
That being said, I could definitely see him scraping out another global medal. As others said, he’s the best racer the US to offer and I would not be surprised to see him on a podium again as long as he remains healthy.
