Any insiders know what workouts he was doing leading up to this?

The real question is what could he run on the Valencia course? 57:45?

I just read somewhere, probably here on letsrun that kamworor and kipchoge closed the last 10k of a 30k tempo run in 27:4x.
When we first measured, we marked every 5k. But to ensure the accuracy of the other km points Maurice did an additional measurement marking the km points in between. As you can imagine, the more times you stop the bike , you increase the chance of small errors ( a few cm). So when he measured the km points, he started from zero at each of the 5k points (which we knew were even more accurate). In addition, he was with the course set up crew to ensure that each of the marks were placed correctly. We will apply the same procedure for the Olympics in Tokyo.

Or for mo Farah: 65.998 400 = 16.4995 100m

He can now run the marathon in theory at 58:01 x 2 + 5 min = 2:01:02 ! …...I think he will reach at least that time during his career. He is only age 26 and have many years left…..
And now we talk about a regular marathon and not that 1:59 attempt by Kipchoge that soon will be .
Absolutely uncertain! Some guys are very fast in the half but fall short in the full marathon- Farah, Tedese, and also Kamworor.
We were so hyped for Lopez running 27:30 at USAs. Geoffrey just went over twice the distance at that pace
I see mentions of a 'Kamworor training thread' with people referring to particular workouts. Earlier on this page people asked about it. Anyone know the source?
Also, did the Spamming Swede really take credit for this on page 1?
It will be interesting to see what form Kamworor brings to the New York City Marathon this fall.
You figure he'll take a break and dig back into training. Of course he must stay healthy, but certainly, he's the favorite. Given today's performance, I'll just say I wish NYC had a faster course!
As usual, there is the speculative talk about doping after any good performance. We just don't know who is clean and who isn't. It is where the sport is at.
A lot of dopers get caught. A lot of dopers don't get caught. I'll give Kamworor the benefit of the doubt today, and enjoy the moment.
I am not naive, I'm just saying on a case by case basis, we have only the individual athlete's record of testing. Which clearly is foggy, as it can be gamed.
Yup, I said "clearly is foggy".

fixed it
Daniels conversion equates 58:02 to :
Marathon 02:01:35
Half marathon 00:58:02
15K 00:40:26
10K 00:26:24
5K 00:12:40
3K 00:07:16
1Mi 00:03:41
1500m 00:03:24
i.e. superior to all other world records except for Bekele's 5000 and 10000.

Assuming same pace for 10 miles as he had at 15km, it would be real close to 44 flat. So yea, safe to say he crushed it, but without official time keeping and measuring, won't even be a world best.

His average pace for the half still works out to 44:10 at 10 miles.
