Moderate running, cycling and swimming combined with moderate weight lifting is the key to life long fitness. Too much of any one activity is a recipe for overuse injuries.

No one cares about the opinion of a meathead. Have a protein shake and take a nap.
Absolutely right. Running isn't healthy for anyone over 30 years old or 150 lbs. 'Just taking years off your life.

Running long distances is stupid. Running a lot is stupid. It's not healthy for the body. If you want to be healthy and look good you should do swimming/running occasionally for basic heart health. But beyond that it's all BS.
Lifting weights will not breakdown the body like running will. You won't burn precious muscle like running will. You will become far more attractive to women by lifting weights than running will make you.
You need strong bones and strong muscles for health and appearance.
Sources?

Dallas McCarver died from choking, it had nothing to do with the anabolic lifestyle. Unfortunately, we know runners who have died doing what they love too.
Did he choke on food? That's part of the anabolic lifestyle alluded to by the OP.
You are not joking: eating is the most onerous and ultimately lethal aspect of bodybuildiing, more so even than the drugs. Anabolism (diet + drugs+lifting stress) fuels inflammation, which in turn fuels disease.
Being in nature, lifting your own weight in a natural fashion, lean muscular physique, huge mental and logistical challenges + bonus of fit beautiful women (or obviously men, if that is your thing)...that is rock climbing, the best overall sport/lifestyle.

Yep, running is bad for you, Blah Blah Blah

Who is that guy? And how old is he? If he runs constantly he will pay for that when he gets older.
62 and not broken down after 47 years of running competitively. Still run every day. Currently weigh about 2 lbs more than when I ran my fastest times 35 years ago.
I go running because I enjoy it. Staring at the bottom of a pool. Gym does nothing for me.
Do Calistenics in addition to running and not only will you be a stronger runner, but you will be shredded and look good. Calisthenics is much more natural than lifting piecs of metal while sitting in a chair
If you want to add weight to calisthenics exercises, then just strap on a weighted vest
Haha Seriously?
Lifting weights is for meatheads. Why would I hang out in a sweaty gym when I can be running thru a lovely forest?
Running makes the man.

Maybe you didn't pass junior high anatomy and physiology but "breaking down the body" i.e., the existing muscle, is exactly how muscle is built. And you do know there's no such thing as burning muscle right?

No one ever died of flabby biceps!
Running (even a lot) is good for you.
That said probably 15 - 20 miles/week of running would suffice for heart health (or an equivalent mix of other cardio).
I ran stadium steps in a weighted vest, did 110 repeats and benched heavy. never gave any concern to any doctrine except it feels good to do it.

Cavorty- you and I have the same exact years into running, I'm also still running daily and doing well. I somewhat recall we have similar PRs also (fist bump)

It's far easier to overtrain in running instead of lifting weights. Because with lifting weights the biggest part of recovery is eating lots of food and rest. You only train certain movements once, maybe twice a week max.
With running the body never has a chance to run. It's just nonstop every single day pounding on the knees. It lowers testosterone which is bad. That can cause erectile dysfunction, loss of muscle and bone mass, energy and drive, accelerated aging, etc.
I attribute my ERECTILE SUPERFUNCTION to running. But I did do some work with free weights and body-weight and medicine ball exercises to supplement it.
The only reason we Humans survived as a species was because our ancestors were great distance Runners. Running is in our Nature . Running is what defined us . Running will and always be the greatest form of exercise . The problem is most people these days dont even know how to run . Its like lifting weights with wrong form and movements . And then like the OP they start to dislike running over some other activities .
Right you are. Running is instinctive, so comparing it to non-instinctive activities in an objective way makes no sense. The need to run is already there before we’re born, ignore that at your peril. By all means do anything you enjoy, but don’t pretend it’s a substitute for the original.
“Aerobic” activities, for instance, comprise anything that tends to activate the heart & lungs in a similar way to running/walking. But the outsize, off-the-chart strength of our aerobic system only exists because of covering long distances.

You're absolutely right. We must tell the world and save them from this crazy running obsession.
