The gauntlet has been thrown
If coburn and Frerichs and Quigs show up in top form, this could be interesting.

Quigley is broken.

These hippies are on drugs.
For some reason, Kenya's #3 and #4, Jeruto (who beat Chepkoech in Stockholm) and Jepkemei) didn't even start at the trials and are skipping Doha. Cespol has been uneven. My top three picks are still Chepkoech, Coburn, Kiyeng. Then Frerichs, Krause, Cespol, Yavi.
Disgusting. Just flaunting their cheating.

Jeruto and Jepkemei are working on Kazakhstan citizenship and will compete for them at the Tokyo Olympics.
Thanks, that's interesting. So in Tokyo we could have around 3 Kenyans from Kenya, 2 from Kazakhstan, Yavi from Bahrain and maybe another one (how long has Jebet been banned for doping).

I believe Emma Coburn gave Chepkoech all the motivation she will ever need by calling her out as a doper when she blasted through the world record last year.

Well she did crush a the steeple record, which was held by a doper . . . .
There was just an incident of this happening in the Tokyo triathlon qualifying race and 1st and 2nd place got DQed.

It's pretty easy to understand them. Bigger money, better facilities, physios etc. And also they don't have to care if they go to Olympics/WC or not. There are 5 women (representing Kenya) with sub 9:10 this season and one kenyan representing Bahrain.
Situation with Bahrain is a little bit strange for me.
It emerged the Bahrain government had paid Jebet a $500,000 bonus for her Olympic success
She cheated, took her money and now she probably doesn't have to do work for the rest of her life. If there is no any financial penalties for athletes (who also come from poor countries) they have nothing to lose. If IAAF/WADA/AIU won't change the rules, situations like this will repeat

The IOC needs to change the rules so that only citizens since birth can represent a country, ie no naturalized ringer athletes. This is getting ridiculous.

The most blatant dopers right now are Chepkoech and the Kenyan women half-marathoners. Timothy "Potato Man" Cheruiyot and marathoner Geremew on the men's side.
Well they are black, so that settles that, whereas Coburn is white. Therefore, Coburn is clean.

I hear you, but then what about people who were born elsewhere and immigrated to another country when they were really young. They go through school and become adults in their new country/culture. Feels wrong to make them represent their birth country with which they may have basically zero connections.
I'll admit that I'm not at all familiar with the rules, but presumably you have to spend at least x years living full-time in your new country before you can represent them internationally? Say, five years. Or is that not the case? Maybe you should have to sit out a couple years from Worlds/Olympics similar to how it works in the NCAA when transferring.

Yes she did - but that is a very poor and one dimensional angle to hang the doping accusation upon. Steeplechase is a relatively recent track event adopted by the women, additionally the “stop start” nature of the race (hurdling barriers then running hard between them) will not yield a smooth curve of improvement as it does in the non hurdling distance events as rhythm and hurdling fatigue have a more disparate impact upon performances from meet to meet and athlete to athlete.
I have no issue with Chepkoech and her record. Emma herself said she believes running 8.45 was possible, she was questioning the individual performance in comparison to her previous performances that year.
But I do have issue with Coburn labelling Chepkoech a doper without any evidence other than a fast time. It brings athletics into disrepute, and additionally Coburn who has a large following on social media has the potential to influence any thousands of followers with her unsubstantiated accusations - not good.

But for the greater good, some just need to take it on the chin in this case.
