This race makes it even more insane that Kincaid and Lomong aren’t running this event at Worlds. The fact that they just ran 12:58 and 13 flat, but couldn’t wake up and run at least 13:21 at either Azusa or USA’s is ridiculous. Not sure what Schumacher was thinking. If top 3 at USAs made the team no matter what, we’d literally be sending the deepest men’s 5k team in US history. Mead and True are clearly not running at their best this year, boding for a much weaker team at worlds. Drew Hunter clearly isn’t on Kincaid’s level either. I’m obviously stoked that they ran this fast yesterday, but wow this makes it even more disappointing that we won’t see them run this event at worlds. However, I’m pretty excited to see how Lopez does in the 10k (and obviously Centro in the 15).

No wonder why he can run so fast.

This makes me believe Bekele 5K/10K records are clean.
+1, if these guys can run 12:58 - 13:00, I have no problem believing Bekele as well as the current crop of 12:4x Ethiopians are clean.
I don’t think he’s vegan anymore. I think Jerry made him start eating fish because of his injuries.
I was hoping this was a thread from last year and a great prediction.
Great times. Wish LL and MC2 would have broke 13, too.
This running shows why WK should've run nationals much better. Gotta do this stuff in championships.
Good luck guys.
that's incredible, congrats to Woody

they used the track at Nike's World Headquarters. pretty sure Nike wouldn't build itself a 399m track for its professional athletes to train on.
ummm... pretty sure Nike wouldn't support doper Lance Armstrong too?

If this isn't fake news, I want the track remeasured.
I think it just goes to show how different a perfectly paced time trial is compared to a real race. This makes me appreciate all the US top 10 distance marks that were set in actual competition a lot more if these results are real.
....every race these guys run is a paced "time trial",,,,,, they dont start racing till the last lap.
THis was more of a race then most.

unless they take the rail down and send it back to eugene. track is measure differently with or without a rail present. the track is actually "longer" with a rail because you run further from the inside line on the turns, so they moved the startline forward a bit to account for the change.
First off not true.
Secondly, three americans run 13:00 and this sites first instinct is to bash them? WTF is wrong with you guys? Jerry is the best coach in the world and his athletes are doing amazing things. Have some god damm pride and give them the props they deserve.
Thirdly, good rule of thumb is "if they can beat you then dont talk $hit about them". They'd lap your mediocre, no-talent a$s by 3k sooooo. Scrubs come on letsrun to bash pro's. You're a scrub

No other sport do the fans talk like this.

no doubt-paced time trial made for fast times-plus it looks like it is wooded around the trakc, making any wind a non-factor which can add up over 5000m for guys leading...

Amazing...great job and huge p.b. The three teammates now sit 8, 10, and 12 on the 2019 World List. Wake up All Chelimo with your an of 13:05.
Chelimo doesn't care. He runs races that actually matters and races them to WIN- you know for medals at championship races. Chelimo could care less what this guy runs at a time trial.
Mark my words now- all this hype about 12:58 and woody kincaid will be sitting at home for Tokyo. Remember folks its about racing and winning, not time trials.

+1
woody was quoted as saying without the crowd, he'd have runned 13:20
Until I see the full race video this is a hoax. And that track has trees in the middle so the camera better follow them the entire freakin way.

Competing and the spirit of sport is what truly matters. All this focusing on time, which is ruining our sport.
