If this isn't fake news, I want the track remeasured.
Damn that wet weather is terrible for runnin’....
No but seriously what a night - it was pretty perfect here in Portland for a 5k. What a performance by Kincaid but how about your reigning OC in the 1500 crushing a 13 flat. Wow.
Amazing...great job and huge p.b. The three teammates now sit 8, 10, and 12 on the 2019 World List. Wake up All Chelimo with your an of 13:05.

I think it just goes to show how different a perfectly paced time trial is compared to a real race. This makes me appreciate all the US top 10 distance marks that were set in actual competition a lot more if these results are real.
Kincaid looked fantastic at nationals. I was very surprised to see him go out in :57, 4:04, regroup, and have enough to kick for 3rd against chelimo and lomong. Kincaid is very aerobically fit right now. Doesn’t surprise me at all about the times tonight. Thought Centro might get the AR with a 2:55 final 1200, but congrats to him, Kincaid, and lomong on great runs!

Makes you wonder how many 13:00ish performances we could have seen over these last several years if more races were time trials like this one. You gotta think that if Kincaid/Lomong/Centro all went about 13:00 today, then Jager/Ryan Hill could have done it a couple years ago as well.
and MAJOR KUDOS to Moh Ahmed who expertly ran 62s and 63s for 11 laps, for likely zero money or pride. That dude must be in at least the same shape as Kincaid. and he actually will get to compete in Doha lol
Agreed. Woody went through a sub 2 opening 800 at USAs looking calm as ever, running a ridiculously paced race right with two of the best. The guy is unbelievably fit and even more confident right now

Agree. Need proof the track is accurate.
they used the track at Nike's World Headquarters. pretty sure Nike wouldn't build itself a 399m track for its professional athletes to train on.
Also it’s not like it’s the hardest track to get access to. Someone can surely measure it themselves one of these days.
unless they take the rail down and send it back to eugene. track is measure differently with or without a rail present. the track is actually "longer" with a rail because you run further from the inside line on the turns, so they moved the startline forward a bit to account for the change.
They brought the rail up from Hayward, so doubt all you want. Those times were legit tonight. I thought Centro was gonna crack any second after 3k, but he held TOUGH! Coolest race I've ever experienced in person, hands down.
Nike ethics knows no bounds.

Do you have a source on them changing the start line? Either way the difference is less than 10m over the course of a 5k, so he still would have broken it.
I was pretty shocked. I kept thinking "centro and lopez look relaxed but woody's face looks like he is about to fall off badly.
Guaranteed both Alberto and Jerry have personally wheeled that track several times each.

"Nike’s 400-meter track never has had an inside rail, a requirement for the race to count as an Olympic qualifier.
While scrambling to come up with one, Michael Bergmann and Jeff Merrill of Portland Track discovered the rail used at the old Hayward Field was sitting in a Eugene storage facility.
A few phone calls later, and the rail was loaded onto a truck and headed to Nike’s suburban Portland campus.
After installing the rail, Bergmann said, the track still had to be certified with an on-site inspection by USA Track & Field.
“We had to create a new starting line based on the measurements from the rail,” Bergmann said. “But we’re good to go for the 5,000. If we wanted to run a 1,500 or a 3,000 we would have to survey again.”

This makes me believe Bekele 5K/10K records are clean.
