Hopkins women beat numerous D1 teams every year and probably would be ranked in the D1 top 25 most years...

Do people here not watch the Athlete Special (Georgetown D1 runner/sub 4 miler) on youtube?!? In one of his videos he's talking with some of the new freshmen on the team (first day of practice) and one of the guys explains that they're "just going to run 5:15 miles" and that it's basically just a group tempo run.
Another example of why DIII should not be allowed to compete against DI
D3 teams beat mid-majors all the time. There is so much ignorance in this thread.
Elaborating on what others have said, there are 85 scholarships in football but only 12.6 combined for track and XC. So there are really only a few scholarships for distance running making the difference between D1 and D3 pretty small as compared to football.
500!?!?!? Try maybe 50-100.
American and GW are terrible programs.
How do you know the course was long?
Reading the results, GU guys all ran the same time, 16:06, so they clearly were not racing.
It also looked those names are expected to be their top guys, which isn’t encouraging either.
If that was actually a correctly executed threshold effort it would indicate 31:15 10k fitness. That’s discouraging.
This was a 5K race only, Georgetown guys avg. 16:06 and probably could have run 15:06 and buried Hopkins, please.
John Hopkins can't say Bradley Cooper is an alum.

Unfortunately, the race results do not include asterisks for "just a tempo".
No, but D1 guys understand.

Say, do you run for Kentucky?
I think it would be great to show up at the start against Georgetown eating a Big Mac. "Ya want some? .....here."
