What, you mean one and done? They all just peaked for a nothing time trial, it's downhill from here on.

Is it that crazy a few Ethiopians can run 12:45 when Woody effing Kincaid can run 12:58 presumably clean? If they’re all doping, they sure ain’t that talented lol

Centro 13:00 just wow
On a vegan diet too. Could probably run 12:35 with meat /s

"downhill"?! You mean they're gonna get even faster?! Loving it, can't wait.

No one ever doubted this. Doesn’t change the fact that JT and Woody arent going to world’s and clearly could be if they’d have just run a few races here or there.

What Ethiopian eats vegan? They eat beef. A lot of them eat raw beef.

Exactly my thoughts.
Kincaid, Lomong, and Centro now US #5, 8, and 9 all time, respectively.
Any time I doubt Centro he proves me wrong.
Cool.
Uh, oh.

I was in Addis for awhile and saw very little meat esp. beef. If it hadn't been their Christmas time I would have gone 2 weeks without seeing any meat other than a tiny bit of goat but for Christmas they splurge and break out a little meat. I believe Woody has been vegan since at least 2015. Any of you listen to his podcasts and can confirm?
This is incredible. But it also shows how damn important good pacing is for as long as possible. Mo Ahmed paced for 4200m at nearly 13min pace. A lot of guys could run really fast with that kind of pacing at any distance.
Still, impressive. Especially from Centro.
Not sanctioned. It’s why Vin would always have a few sprints & throws in his distance events. You need a certain number of events & competitors to qualify.
This was a great event. Bigger crowd than showed up for USAs for the distance events :D, well maybe not but great atmosphere, great crowd, fantastic runnning, They ran a decent negative split. Kincaid was gapped on final backstretch so much of really closed hard.
I would love to see more of these.
I few track as 2 pursuits , 1) winning races 2) seeing how fast you can run. I love both!
Nope nada no way jose wrote:

that's not how this works
go home
I wasn't counting him out, but this totally puts Centro in sub 3:30 shape with a good shot at a world medal.

MO Ahmed got them to 4600m at 11:58 and was running around cheering them last lap
I watched the race.
I was impressed by how many fans came out. I'd guess 300 or more, there were a lot of people near the finish area.
Obviously ridiculously fast times for the BTC guys -- 12:58 for Woody Kincaid, 13:00 for Lopez Lomong, and 13:00 for Matthew Centrowitz. Great signs for Lomong and Centro ahead of Worlds. Is Lomong now a medal contender in the 10k? If it goes fast like it has the last few years, I still think probably not, but if it doesn't, I think he's a dark horse.
Kincaid's race today was the perfect encapsulation of Jerry Schumacher right now. His supporters will argue Schumacher is a genius for turning a guy who wasn't a big-time pro recruit and never finished higher than 5th at NCAAs while in college into a 12:58 man. His critics will say that Jerry Schumacher failed to get a 12:58 guy on the Worlds team because he didn't race enough.
