Quick update split the long run this week with a 7 mile and a 14 mile.
Ran some of the 14 mile hard at sub 9 mim mile although it was downhill.
Overall felt good.
Now time to taper possibly 2 or 3 easy 7 milers before the race in 10 days.
Hi Guys
Did the Marathon yesterday (in York)
Finished with a time of 4.26 which I was really pleased with.
Felt ok just maintained around 10 min splits the whole race.
All my training barring 1 week when I split it into 2 was done with just one long run a week and hardly any other runs ( for reason see earlier posts)
I did 5 runs of 20 miles or more.
None of my injuries bothered me so all in all went roughly to plan.
I may do another but obviously to beat that time I need to do more running which means making a breakthrough with my injury issues.
I have a half marathon in April so going to work on a PB for that.
Thanks particularly to Allen 1959 for your support which I found really useful Hope your injuries are improving.

Congratulations! Great result, and good to run an even pace, start to finish. I'm sure with a little more mileage, you'll run sub-4 or close. Thanks for the update! (no progress for me, just trying to run a few miles a few times a week, and not get fat ... racing days are probably over)
Hi fisky
Partly due to your post I decided to try and get to the route of my injury problems.
Achilles wise my issue was more the shoes I wear at work which I have now changed them to Brookes ghost which have a slightly more raised heel, this seems to take some of the pressure off my achilles and resulted in much less pain, I still run in hoka cliftons.
I visited a sports physio and they said the issue with my knees was weak glutes which she has given me some strengthening and balance work to improve on them.
I know am able to run 3-4 times a week without pain.
Thanks for your help.
BTW I am now focusing on the half marathon as for me training for the full is just too time consuming and am hoping to get my time under 1.40, my PB later this year.
