What I'd like to hear is why the 110m hurdles is apparently so much harder than the 400h and steeple.
Both the 400h and steeple have world records less than 110% of the flat world records over those distances, despite the fact that the runners get pretty tired.
The record for a flat 110m would be less than 11 seconds, and yet the 110 high hurdles is barely under 13 seconds, closer to 120% of the flat performance. I think this is silly. They should lower them so fast runners can go fast.

There is one hurdle for ever 11 meters run in the 110h. One hurdle for every 40 meters run in the 400h. One barrier for every ~86meters in the SC.
If the 110h only had 3 hurdles I'm guessing it'd be closer to that 110% range of flat world records at that distance.
The high hurdles are brutal and do make the 110 H a really different discipline, not merely a rhythmically tougher sprint like the women's hurdles.
It's the other way round: The women's hurdles are not high enough, so it's too easy and they can go too fast. The most important change in athletics would be to add at least one, better around two inches to women's hurdles and barriers.

IOW, one hurdle for every 10% of the distance for the first two events, and for every 3% in the last. Not convincing.
The height is obviously the reason, but I really don't care who can do an all-out sprint while jumping over really high things.
o.k., then don't watch hurdle races as you apparently totally missed the point of having them in first place.
May I also suggest that you stop watching high jump because one gets so much higher in the pole vault, so why bother without a pole.

It's not that unusual in Europe. Many meetings on the European permit circuit are capacity crowds, or close to it.
I live an hours drive away. A coworker of mine was there with her partner. She'd never watched a diamond league race before. Not even on TV. But she was impressed.

Dibaba here actually looked really good through 200m to go... but , clearly had an injury problem.
I didn't think she looked good at all. She was leading, but never pushing the pace as she would have been if she was prepared to win. She was running with a stiff, jerky gait for the final 700 meters while Hassan and Klosterhalfen were gliding smoothly behind just waiting to pounce.

She clearly had some injury, which is a shame. The dream final of Hassan, Muir, Simpson, Houlihan, Dibaba, and Kipyegon might not happen. I'm sure she'll be ready to rip it next indoor season though...

I guess I should say that she was running good splits at least... from 1100-1300 she ran a 29 s. I did not really notice the gait abnormality until the final 150m.

Watch again. Most every seat was empty. They stood the entire meet! Increible.
One of the best meets in quite some time. Excited for round 2...

How about making it a true hurdling event, raising for every round until only one man/woman clears them all? ;-)
