Why did the high schooler Mu have to double 800 and then come back in the 400? You none of the 200 runners could step up or any of the 400 IH runners do it? So the hs runner has to do it for the team not the soft stars.

3:30 guy in this field should be manhandling people. BB does the same thing as well. I think it's the nature of the beast though. Meaning, every elite 1500m guy thinks they're the fastest gun in the West.
Let's hope BB doesn't think he's the fastest gun. He usually isn't. His PB -- 3:34.26 -- is 13th fastest in the US over the last decade, behind (among others) Leer, Rupp, Heath, Brown, JMac & Torrence. In today's race, it put 4th, behind CdVG, JW and Miellet.
I may be wrong, but I don't think anyone thinks Blankenship would do better if he "took it out hard." I thought the rap on him was that he liked to take it out too hard too soon, so he'd get manhandled in the end. Like this:

Don't know why the double but she was fresh for the 800 and she laid an egg. A terrible race for her and that's what happens when these athletes lose focus. She was doing this Milesplit Instagram takeover and I've NEVER seen any athlete perform at peak when they distract themselves with this nonsense. Are you there to run or are you there to hype Milepslit's social media? In the hours leading up to a race your head needs to be in the game. I know it's not a huge meet, but for a high school girl representing the USA in international competition, you would think she would take it a bit more seriously. I don't get it at all.
Correct - you don't get it at all.

Not available in the USA.
USA coverage here.
http://stream.nbcsports.com/nbcsn/Quite impressive 1500m women. I guess the US girls agreed to make it fast from the beginning, so Osika ran 65 sec. laps. Grace passed her in the last and got a new PB of 4:02.5, McColgan 3rd, Cranny with another PB in 4th 4:05.83.

Kate MF Grace with the PR! So happy for her. Hoping it gives her the confidence to come back strong at the trials.
A preemptive Suck It goes to all the haters, who I'm sure will be along soon to find fault with her performance.

Am a fan of Kate Grace, but was surprised this 4:02.5 was a p.r. Cranny with a nice double. M110H and M800 pretty much sealed team title for Europe. US getting crushed in field events. Bummer tonights 5K from Portland is only pay per view.
This being eastern Europe it seems fitting that both HJ competition were very good despite the idiotic rule restricting everyone but the winner to 8 attempts. Yesterday we got a WL of 2.35 by Maksim Nedasekau, today a 2.02 PB for the stunning Yuliya Levchenko and Lasitskene only in 3rd.
dat Yuliya Levchenko tho

You are not alone. LRC is dominated by fans of the idea of Kate Grace. They post on here so often that it's easy to get confused, and think she's a 1:56/3:56 runner, and forget that in fact, she isn't even close.
Fan interest is in Grace's perceived potential in the 1500, especially now after such a convincing win in a pr.
Doubt this will happen, but would really like for Nike to have its upgraded track certified for a 1500 . . . then have the Bowerman Babes go all out as a tune-up for Worlds (Houlihan, Schweizer, Hall, Frehrichs, Quigley (currently injured)) or as a season ender (Grace, Cranny, Fraser, maybe Infeld).
That has to be the first loss for Lasitskene for quite a while. The Ukrainians have some good jumpers - 3 women at 1.98 and higher, and Protsenko for the men (won DL title). The men's comp is wide open, with the likes of Drouin, Bondaranko and Barshim off their game or retired (Drouin?). First I've heard of Nedasekau.
What has happened to Cunningham? Haven't seen her on the DL circuit lately. Seems like this would have been a good meet (with the quality of the comp) to prep for Doha.

That 1500 time trial in Beaverton is a great idea. Just out of curiosity, how low do you think Grace can go?

Kate is not a 1500 runner, she will never break 4. She is built to be an 800 runner. The only reason she is running the 1500 is because the fine folks at BTC have no clue how to adequately train someone for the 800 and they convert everyone to either 1500 or 5000. Stop trying to fit a square peg in a round hole and let her run what she is naturally made to do. I am absolutely positive that she can get to 1:57. Even the training she was doing that got her to Rio with NoCal Distance was better suited for her than what she is doing now. They need to make the decision to go 100% after the 800 and they will sink or swim. I'm betting that she swims.
Blame wejo - such a homer for the Yalies.

Well, since someone as new and relatively obscure as Rebecca Mehra -- also a 1500/800 gal with prs of 4:08.1/2:02.5-- just ran a 4:22.0 road mile (guess 4:03/track 1500) and beat Nikki Hiltz/WC entrant, I could see Kate shave another 4 secs off her 4:02.5pr in a track race like the 5th Ave Mile where the winner is a few seconds ahead of her. That would be about a 3:55 winner with Kate at 3:58.
Didn't think she would break 4 this year due to time needed to adapt to BTC training, especially given how difficult 2018 was for her in her first year w/Jerry. However, as others have noted, she has run 2019 injury free and now ends the season on a bang, suggesting she "got it" conditioning wise and now knows how to properly execute her 1500m racing tactics.
Question is, how will she - and everyone else other than Houlihan & Simpson -- do next year in the Oly Trials finals which likely will not go out fast. I can think of 5-6 others who have the same sub-4 potential who will be right with her chasing that 3rd spot.

So far, only 7 American women have run under 4. Yet you think that number could double in the next year?
Who are these 5-6 others?
