catching dopers is heartbreaking now?
will wait for news from a more reliable source though.
That's not heartbreaking. That's great news. Made my day.
not a good look for Ato.
Personally I want him distanced from the sport as rumors are he is part of the move to kill off distance running in the diamond league, but he is an excellent commentator and good for fans. shame an athlete under his guidance fell by the wayside.
given she is 17, this thread should be closed to unregistered users. Hopefully she just didn't read what was listed on the label and there is a way to resolve this.

Yes!!! Why not the normal 4 year ban?
How does a diuretic benefit sprinters?? I though it was something used by bodybuilders to shed water and look leaner during posing.

Diuretics are used to flush other performance enhancing drugs out of the system quicker in an attempt to evade a positive test.

If true that would really be a sad affair. She is so young and could never refine her doping practices to that of top usa and Jamaican sprinters. A young doping talent set a food wrong. hopefully she does not commit suicide
Sounds like this is an issue with her handlers and coaches. Someone told her to take this or that. No way a 17 yr old knowingly did this. Most are not THAT smart.
Guess her family didn't pay off the testers enough.
Looks like they had to make a statement, by positiving her (A&B) in response.
"handler"? What is she? Sounds like a zoo asset. No when I was 16 I had this WADA list printed out and whenever I went to the doctor I took it with me. And I did not take anything that was not cleared by me or the doctor I went to. Athletes that age are very aware about doping controls and about not inserting substances you don't know about. Doing so really is acting dumb for your own benefit
Gotta admit I’m sort of laughing considering that she was born and grew up in the US but decides to run for Jamaica due to visiting there with her family at times. Of course Ato Bolden likes doing that these days.
She needs to talk to Christian Coleman about the proper use of whereabouts violations.
Ato Boldon was training with HSI group back in the go. Look at the list of banned athletes of that group, (not counting Christian Coleman yet). What else did you expect?
And another one bites the dust
You can buy the story or not, but here is what they are claiming...
1. She got sick while they were in Jamaica for the meet.
2. Her mom went to the store and bought cold medicine.
3. They checked the ingredients to make sure nothing was on the banned list.
4. She tests positive for a diuretic which was NOT listed on the medicine (nor would there ever be a diuretic in cold medicine)
5. They send the medicine off to a lab in Michigan
6. The lab finds for the medicine was contaminated with the diuretic.
7. They are seeking an expedited hearing in order to try and get her eligible in time for Doha.
I researched the medicine the Gleaner says she took.
- It is only listed on two websites, both Jamaican
- I found one review of it, which mentioned a lack of the usual safety information printed on the box.
- It just seems to be some private label product, I could not find any other products by "Pharmatex" that matched the logo on the box or that were sold in Jamaica.
- Pharmatex is listed as a brand that "Massy Distribution Jamaica Limited" imports, there is no Pharmatex website for this product.
IMO, it is plausible that her mom unknowingly bought dodgy medicine that ended up being contaminated.
While most athletes are aware that supplements could be contaminated with something not listed, normal medications being contaminated is not on most athletes' radar.
Medicines being made under poor conditions in countries like China and India and being contaminated is a worldwide issue. Even here in the US, we had a huge recall of blood pressure medications this year.
What is more interesting is the fact she had the flu and was still able to run 10.94.
This alone raised my suspicion .

Hopefully you wouldn't be an a&&hole, but alas, you are.
Add diuretic to random cold medicine that "mom" bought and send to testing agency. No, problem Man.
