    You have been misled. I had serious talks with Mike Peroni at the inception of the program and that was 100% the goal.

    Build a marathon group.

    I know that Mike is no longer there but that was definitely the goal of the board when it started.

    Maybe they have abandoned the original plan. That I am not privy to, but that was the goal.

    You just aren’t privy to it. Perroni is long gone now anyways. What makes you think they are trying to build solely a marathon group when they have 1 true marathoner on their roster currently. BAA seems commited to recruiting and supporting American talent 800-marathon.

    If that is true then they need to pay some serious athletes serious cash, they have millions in the bank, they have more than they know what to do with. Time to put up or shut up.

    BAA is cheap. That is why they can't keep a coach. Think about it. This race wouldn't even have prize money if it weren't for John Hancock. John Hancock pays for the elite component of the race zero from BAA.

    Let's be honest, the BAA is a joke and is irrelevant. The Boston marathon is only as popular as it is because it got bombed by terrorists.

    Ricardo has an impressive resume but is a mediocre coach who hasn't shown much development of american athletes. Not sure any better options would want to work under JJ Clark, so it's a pretty good pickup for Stanford. Also, Ricardo was very smart to get the hell out of BAA that place is garbage.

    There are quite a few good distance coaches that would merit this job, from Ed Eyestone at BYU to Eric Heins and Mike Smith of NAU and many more.

    Learn to read. I said nobody wants to work for JJ Clark. Ricardo is far from the best coach but no good coaches are going to leave a good situation to be an assistant for guy as universally reviled as JJ Clark. There aren't many coaches that are less respecteed by their peers than JJ Clark.

    Morgan Uceny just wrapped up her summer of travel and vacations. Is she ready to buckle down with her BAA coaching duties now?

    Can we expect big things from the group’s fall marathon and road racing schedule?
