They have a new coach with little college coaching experience.

This is definitely a story to follow.
This is tricky business. I am very sympathetic to transgender people, indeed I consider myself to be somewhere on the TG spectrum. It's a personal matter, I can only speak for myself and say that I am more male (born male) than female, on balance. A certain percentage of my time, I happily present as female.
Each TG person is different and deserves complete respect.
That being said, I do not believe that biological males should compete as female in running. The right thing would be to have a trans category. I believe this is fair. One person's subjective opinion.

To everyone mentioning Team USA, she would have to prove her levels were below the limit for a year, which may or may not be the case.

If she does dominate as a woman, that definitely could push the NCAA to adopt the same policies as the IAAF as far as having to be below a specific testosterone level for a year.
But it is also possible that she has gone through significant hormone therapy and will not be running anywhere near the times she ran as a man.
In spite of what many LRers might think, 100% of her motivation in transgendering is that she wanted to become a woman and not because she wanted to be a big fish in a small pond.
What we don't know is how serious a typical TGMTF is about hormone treatment. Do they want to do the bare minimum or all they all in. We have no reason to believe that June's attitude towards the treatment is any different than non-athlete TGMTFs.
Is it too early for the black screen?

Semenya may well have testosterone levels higher than this guy's pre-transition number.
No. She doesn’t. She has internal testes. Those are usually A) malformed and B) kept at a higher temperature than XY men (which isn’t ideal.) Super unlikely she even has the same amount of testosterone as the average man.
If that is so then she would have no trouble meeting the new presecribed limit of 5 nml, which is considerably above the normal female level of 0.7-2nml. But she does. So I guess you are wrong again.
Looks like the NCAA Womens Records will be SMASHED and Kratochvilova's and Genzebe Dibaba's 800 and 1500 Records are in MAJOR JEOPARDY.

How can you say with such confidence what this runner's motivation is? You personally acquainted?
Obviously, a lot of men today say they "feel like" women and are obsessed with fantasies of having a woman's body. But how exactly does a man "become a woman"? (Asking because you seem sure that it's possible.)
"Obviously, a lot of men today say they "feel like" women and are obsessed with fantasies of having a woman's body."
That's your definition of a transgender female?
Can't wait for the NYT article arguing that testosterone and biologically male characteristics are just her natural-born talent no different from Michael Phelps's big feet
it had to happen sooner or later
the issue is not T suppression, it was a foolish red herring all along. Males and females are more biologically different than that, and hormones aren't the only advantage males have.
Sooner or later, this is going to happen with someone who runs 3:38 or 1:45, and then no amount of T suppression is going to stop the women's WR from going well below 3:50 and 1:52, untouchable by anyone with an XX genotype.
What a joke! Good luck with your season, June! You're so brave

You raise a very relevant point; so far we haven't seen a highly talented male who has "transitioned". Game over, when that happens.

Do you have a link to her account? Is she slowing down?
No one is going to do this, especially not someone who with big prs could make a major impact on a men's team. June is intending to achieve personal glory by competing as a woman. Its got to be weird for the biological women on the team, here is this dude who competed for the guy's team and now he's going to knock a biological woman out of a spot. In a way this is a result of title ix. Men have been so disadvantaged in every sport but football and basketball. Seeing how easy it is for women to run in college, and run on scholarship has got to make some wish they were women, but I'd expect a guy 2 mins slower to take that route, not some 4lows miler.

How cool would it be if June was actually an old school feminist who was doing this to make a mockery of the policy? Doing gender studies as they truly care about women having a chance to be elite athletes and doing this to expose how crazy it is.
I think the odds of this are like in a million but we can always hope.
June, if you are reading this, and you insist on competing, please barely take any T suppressants. I want you to DOMINATE.
Excellent idea. If they send chicks with (internal) balls, we send chicks with dicks!
But I am afraid these pictures tell otherwise. This is not some guy trying to prove how ridiculous the current rules are.
