You would think after the first missed test, he would be especially careful to update his whereabouts and stick to them. USADA is VERY helpful in this and it's 100% the athlete's fault for missing tests. I hope he's not on something but given the fact that he missed 3 tests in an environment where it's very easy to update your location, I have to think he's hiding something.

If the ban ends up being put on Coleman for this, we couldn’t rightfully say he was a doper and we’d still have to honor any past performances (WRs, WC medals, etc.)
Right, he just coincidentally avoided THREE tests while glowing. Lolz.
Just read Dwayne Chambers's interviews on doping. They are very insightful.
You take masking agents also but you know the half lives of the drugs you've taken, so if a tester turns up when you know you'd test positive you just dodge it. If they turn up outside your glowing window you take the test and pass. You'd have to be unlucky for them to turn up three times when you are in your hot window.
Not much has changed.

impunity implies no chance of getting caught, seems we have already crossed that threshold. I suspect if it was the free for all that you imply, all of this would have been at least covered up if not never an issue at all.

Christian Coleman? That's why he dropped out from Birmingham.
This guy. Drops out of races on a dime and we know from the likes of Regina Jacobs and such that this is how you hide. Or the dancing dork face with the “funny” socks training in Florida.

This poster. Comes on here trying to prove how much he knows about sprinters/running and doesn't realize the guy with the "funny" socks who trains in Florida is Noah Lyles, not Christian Coleman.
So its Coleman on three missed tests.
Idiotic at best, but he'll be able to point to no failed tests to suggest he's not a cheat, just an idiot.
No way an elite should be missing 3. 1 is forgiveable, 2 starts to make you look shady, 3 is either deliberate or just demonstrates idiocy. Whether idiocy is something you should be criticised for is another matter.
This might be a dumb question...
How exactly does one prove they didn't miss a test?
I'm assuming the only way would be to really say "We told you we were going to be in (Some Other Location) during this time and you showed up to a different location during that same time"

Of course. That's why most runners can keep it at 1 - 2 tests per 12 months for their whole career.

There have been cases where hotel staff have refused to divulge room numbers or allow visitors to contact elite sportspeople staying with them (despite being requested to do so by the sportsman / woman). Or extreme circumstances like "I said I would be at 10 Acacia Avenue 10-2pm but at 9:45 I was told my mum had been in a car crash 100 miles away and I immediately left to go to the hospital to visit" etc. If the testers show up at the wrong place, I guess you could just compare the Whereabouts details. So they turn up at 10 Station Road, Sometown and you were at 10 Station Drive, Sometown (and that's what's on the Whereabouts).
There's a reason why three missed tests is a doping violation; the athletes know this. You sure as hell would know this after two missed tests - three strikes and you're out. This is the sport now; the best are juiced. But some are being caught - or revealed, through a failure to meet testing obligations.

Seemed pretty clear to me he was suggesting it was either Coleman or Lyles. He didnt name either by name. He called one "this guy," and called the other "dancing dork socks."

+1
What's almost hilarious is that the PR shills here try to act surprise that at American top sprinter was caught.
Here's the updated list of Top 10 American 100 m runners, sorted by PR:
Gay – banned drug cheat
Gatlin – banned drug cheat
Greene – reported doper
Coleman – missed three tests
Bromell
Burrell – reported doper
Rodgers – banned drug cheat
Lewis – protected doper
Baker
Crawford – banned drug cheat
(Thanks to the three newest guys, banned drug cheat Mitchell got kicked out of the top ten.)
So, nothing new really.

It doesn't matter if you have other tests in between that are clean. If you miss have 3 whereabout violations in a year, you are banned for 1-2 years.
The theory behind the rule is simple. Otherwise you could just take a microdose and hideaway for a few days all year long and know you'd never test positive.
Here is our analysis of the case:

I 100% agree. You think after the first one you'd get nervous. After the second one, you think it would become the most important thing in your life. I'm serious. But he's young. So if it's not the most important thing in your life, you think it would be the most important thing in his agent's life. Do you know how much money the fastest guy in the world is worth?
A LOT.
I'd be like, "Christian, I need to know where you will be for 1 hour tomorrow. You must be there. Period." Repeat that the next day and next.
Now I've heard through the grapevine that his appeal has some legs to it so it'll be interesting as to what comes out.
So he was caught 3 times missing a drug test? I wonder if he is the one who gets a slap on the wrist and has some lame excuse, or if he's the one who is being banned for 2 years! Either way sprinting is finished. Is it a pure coincidence that everyone except the legendary lightning bolt has something dug up on them?
I didn't like Coleman after his feud with Lyles. I REALLY don't like him now. Will be sad when he comes back.
I hope Lyles makes a parody video of hiding from testers.
Dean Macey made the point that this was all very simple, he told the testers he would be at home, and in bed at 6am every day.
He also commented that he was usually ready for a leak at that time as well.
The worst part about this news is that it means Gatlin's chances of winning another World Championship title have gone up. Ugh.
