Acadia National Park. Stay in Bar Harbor.
My weird "one day I'm gonna..." is running all the named peaks on the right side of MDI in a day.

Boulder is a stupid city. Its not even in the mountains. Its on the edge of them. Go to the actual mountains...head to vail, aspen, telluride, CB, etc.

Clermont FL, near Orlando is great in the winter. 70C and sunny every day, and it has the famous clay loops and endless miles of paved bike paths that are very hilly (only hilly place in FL). Louisa State Park trails (again, very hilly) and a flat weekly 5k parkrun around a lake are just the icing on the cake.
Sadly they cut the clay loop in half this year or something.
Seattle has a lot of trails in town and out in the mountains. Go now before the rain and cold come back.
Austin has lots of trails, but wait until late October for the heat to get more reasonable.
Washington DC is also good. I stayed in Crystal City and got in lots of great runs on the Potomac and around all the monuments early in the morning when it is relatively quiet.
Definitely Frisco!
Yeah DC is pretty solid. I have a good 13 mile loop that goes from the middle of rock creek park down along a trail that takes you to Georgetown and where you go along the Potomac until you hit the monuments.
Makes for a pretty good long run on early weekends before it gets too crazy.
They haven’t quite paved over that half of the clay loop, but it will be happening in the next few months. I’m sad to lose one of the few running jewels in the Central Florida area.
I like Seattle & DC for both running & vacation. I like Bend, OR a lot. Quieter but you have your pick of whatever you want in terms of running -- flat, hilly, mountain, road, etc. It's also not at too high of an altitude that you wouldn't need as long to adjust if you're coming from sea level to a place like Boulder or Flag. I'm really down with Burlington, VT as a really quiet city that you can knock out in a few days and get some really scenic running in. Bend/Burlington are similar enough. Good beer/food, nice scenery, plenty to do but not overwhelming.
Bend, OR is good.
Stillwater, OK is great for running too. I found the Newport/Irvine/Laguana Beach are great for running.
St. George or Moab, Utah are both awesome trail running towns. Tons of great trail access and plenty of other things to do as well.

- Utah: Moab, Zion, Bryce all have great trails outside the National Parks. Lake City/Park City have a great mix of mountain trails and road/paved trails
- Colorado: Frisco/Breckenridge, Steamboat Springs, Leadville. Like someone else said, Boulder is highly overrated.
- California: Lake Tahoe, Monterey/Santa Cruz
- Washington DC - great running community and paths/trails and tons of stuff to see when not running
- Nevada - Las Vegas - great trails outside Vegas at Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, Lake Mead - Las Vegas people watching and entertainment when not running.
