Very very impressive race by him. Took down one of the top Moroccans with ease.
Berglund really seems like someone that is going to be a star in the event. Young guy improving every year.
4th best Scandanavian guy ever after the Inge bros? -

They could stone him to death with all of their Olympic medals. -
Hagg and Andersson were banned before they could compete at the Olympics. That didn't stop Sweden going 1-2 at the '48 Olympics. Although, Nurmi could lend them a couple each and still have plenty, including his '24 1500 gold.
In terms of a Scandinavian all-time list, Berglund would be fifth behind the Ingebrigtsens and Robert Kiplagat Andersen's Danish record of 3:31.17 from 1997. -
Kalle has been knocking on the sub 3:35 door since a few years back but looked to be stuck at 3:36-3:38 .
Now at last sub 3:35 he really seem to be able to reach maybe 3:31-3:32 in a couple of years. Will he run sub 3:30?
I doubt it .Maybe if he changed to the coach with the magic wand. -
Impressive. Wonder if maybe he looked at the program of the great JS. he has always been a fan of the individual paces that Berglund seem to deploy.

WR holders and Olympic champion. You think Sam Prakel is better than Hägg? His 1500 time is faster, right? -

Oh? So why are we calling Kipchoge the greatest marathoner ever? Why are we not calling Waldemar Cierpinski the greatest marathon runner ever? His two Olympic golds are 100% more than what Kipchoge has. Idiot. -

What is the need for name calling? You must be American.
However, an easy answer to your question would be that WC is a confirmed doper from East German notations. Second, WC never held the WR in the marathon. Comparing times from different eras is relatively insignificant as the major factor of comparison. -

WC is just about a confirmed doper as Kipchoge is. Kipchoge is on the fancy bears list and WC was allegedly in some E German documentation and we have to trust this one guy who no one knows what kind of agenda he had. Never really proved out to be 100% doped. Confirmed is quite the stretch. -
Imagine thinking Nurmi was Scandinavian.
-
Lol. Correct. You can just tell by the last names for the most part who is Scandinavian and who is Finnish. No son's at the end of Finnish names.

Too bad they wouldn’t be able to catch Kalle in the first place (ya know, cause he’s faster). -
Great time trial and nice NR with 1350m pacing. I wondered a long time whether Oueladha was a pacer or a runner.
One runner who openly was chasing the WC standard did not start in the top 10. I cannot understand that. Kalle Berglund made the best out of this gold opportunity. -

As it suits me? A WR is a WR whether it is 2,30 or 2,00. It is a world record. First place in the Olympic Games is a gold medal. Times are essentially irrelevant when comparing athletes of different eras. You think your Ben True is better than Kuts? Come now, let's use some sence.
As far as Scandinavian, Finland is considered by most (if not all Europeans) as a Nordic country. Not the same, but is typically in a group with NOR/SWE/ISL/DEN when athletics are involved. -
What’s his training like? Who coaches him?
-
Berglund's run = 3:31 in Monaco
-
Janne Bengtsson, 72, is his coach. Berglund started to do double threshold runs quite recently and he says it turned out well. I can translate an article about it
