He's not on the world rankings this year for the 10k but he is for the 5k. I'm only following results and statistics. No need to be a tool

If you understand his resume, his best shot at gold is in the 10000.
Bullet points:
- has the world best for 15k on the road last fall
- won world XC championship earlier this year
- far superior 10000 PB vs his 5000 PB
Also, even by your metric, his current world raking for 10000 is 3rd in the world vs 5th in the 5000 according to his IAAF profile.

I'm not saying Cheptegei doesn't have a strong chance for gold in the 10k. He clearly does. I just didn't know he was running it based on his race resume this season.

That makes zero sense.
It makes more sense than a guy not racing a 10k this season competing at worlds in the 10k in just A MONTH now does it.
10000 aren't raced on the track that much anymore. I think the last world championship mo farah won, he did one or two track 10000 races. But you're missing the point, Cheptegei is a strength runner. He is more suited for the 10000. He won the world XC championship this year. Historically speaking, people who win those go on to do what at world's/Olympics?
Well just have to wait and see. Everyone in the Ethiopian trio have insanely strong kicks. It might come down to finishing speed this year
This article summarizes it well:

No, it doesn't.
Reigning World Cross Country Champion. Reigning World Championship 10000m silver medalist. Reigning 10000m Commonwealth Champion. And his 5000m accolades are.....? Commonwealth champion and also ran at some other races? He's shown he's clearly better at 10000m than 5000m over the last few years. CLEARLY.
Farah has won the world championship in the 10000m when he didn't race it otherwise all season. There aren't many if any worthy 10000m races these days.

I can understand why Lomong was excluded as a non-contender, but no love for Engels?
If it weren’t for women’s SC, I’d say Bowerman gets skunked.
I hope I’m wrong and the USA cleans up regardless of club.
Personally, I think the roster for the 1500m is too strong for Engels. He can out-tactic Centrowitz, but with Jakob, Cheruiyot, Tefera, and and Musagala. And I think Centrowitz's tactical nature and experience gives him the edge at world's despite his injuries. I also now question whether or no Yomif can pull off the double. I can see him easily medaling in the 5k, but I'm not so sure how the fatigue will affect his 10000m
I agree with all this and will just say that NOP are masters of peaking. Pretty sure the NOP mid-d guys are resting after USAs to gear up for another peak at Worlds. Not to say this is unique to NOP, I’m sure it isn’t, but I’m starting to think Engels could be a top-5 threat.
If Kejelcha were older I’d think the double would be ill-advised but he’s surely playing the long game and will benefit from the experience even if it costs him in Doha, specifically.

Oh I dunno, maybe the fact that the top-3 Ethiopians ran sub-26:50 to qualify and will all-but-certainly be prepared to run the second half of the race near Lopez’s 5,000m PR seeing as how we’re (hopefully) in the post-Mo era where it was proven in 2017 that running hard will expose relative interlopers like Lomong.
I’m more than happy to eat crow if I’m wrong but it takes more than wishful thinking to beat 12:4x guys with 3:47 mile ability whose coaches tell them it’s ok to lead and take chances.

If, by some chance, the Ethiopians do the same thing Chelimo did at USA's and Lomong hangs on to them along with most likely Cheptegei and Kipruto and they can't hold that surge (similar to Barega's surge at worlds in 2017), then the ball can go into Lomong's court but that is very unlikely for ALL THREE to make that mistake
I wouldn’t completely write off Moh in the 5000m. He certainly has better chances than Schweizer.

well uh... Shweizer is a girl so they aren't in the same race, but nice try

Pretty sure he's talking about in their gender races. Mo Ahmed did finish 4th at the last Olympics in the 5000.
Forgot about Mo. Hard to keep track about who qualifies in other countries. At first I thought they were talking about Farah and I was confused because he was only confirmed to do the 10k

Wait, confirmed? Did I miss an announcement?

Seriously? The point was that you listed Schweizer as a potential medalist for BTC but not Moh. An oversight. I can’t expect much from you after reading the back-and-forths about Cheptegei, though.
