For the first time I decided to spend the summer running and putting in miles (345 miles to be exact). However I don’t really feel as I’ve progressed much and if anything I’ve taken a step back. I ran in a couple Friday night 5k’s and actually bested my PR by over 35 seconds (18:15 PR now in spikes) 3 weeks ago except that I still can’t really go on a 6-7 mile run at an alright pace (6:15-7:30) most days without walking if I’m by myself (with people I usually don’t walk and especially not in races).
Not only that but I’ve been having hip pain for the past month or two and just fixed up some knee pain, with my calf days later becoming extremely sore. I’m going to see a doctor for my hip pain next week since it’s clearly not going away, however it isn’t one that completely inhibits me from running.
I just feel like I’m extremely unfit and burned out almost and not prepared at all for XC next week. This past month my trainings been sort of off and on which may be a contributing factor but even then I feel like I’m just running myself into a wall of injuries. My biggest fear is getting myself injured for track season inhibiting me from improving on my times since I’m significantly better at track than XC (400m: 54.3, 800m: 2:01.3, 1600: 4:51.7). What do I do?
