Why is rojo posting under a different handle? This seems like something he would use his regular name for.

Pan Ams are a JV meet.
I'm torn on this one as I want Brazier winning a big medal at Worlds and would like to see Engels in the final, but the more I think about it the more I think it's wrong. Look, in reality, Pan Ams are normally after USAs so it's pretty easy to get 100% participation as you go to #4s and #5s at USAs.
But this year, while the meet was after USAs, the team was due before USAs so it was a little dicey.
I understand why Engels and Brazier did what they did but don't think it's right. Imagine if the entire Team USA did that? It would have been embarrassing for the country and a huge insult to the hosts who have spent A LOT of money on this and have a wonderful stadium.
The reality is USATF should have a) had nationals much later - after Pan Ams. b) Had a rule in place that if you agreed to go to Pan Ams, you went no matter if you made Worlds or not. c) Lobbied like crazy to let them put in a team after USAs.
So in addition to the NOP, I am putting a lot of blame on USATF
As for it being a JV meet, that's one of the problems of our sport - everything but Worlds/Olympics is like practice.
In actuality, they should hold this meet in off WC year and make it like our Commonwealth Games. It could be really big.
