Mormons can’t do much, really—except lie. They claim to share the Ten Commandments with Christians, Muslims, and Jews, but that commandment about not giving false testimony doesn’t really hold the same ground in Mormonism that it does in the other religions. Many Mormons have claimed that Mormons are raised “with the idea that it’s okay to lie if it’s for a higher cause.” Apparently, throughout the history of the church, it has been okay to lie to outsiders if it protects the church.
This whole quote is essentially a lie. Members of the Church have been quite accomplished in many things. We do believe in the 10-commandments including not lying (bear false witness). I've never been taught that it was ok to lie for a higher cause. Tell me when throughout church history it's been ok for members to lie to protect the church. I can quote a number of times when members were willing to give up their life to not deny their testimony.
