Looking at 2018, I see the champs are returning. Should be a good one with all the WCAP runners.
Loaded my butt.
Men’s field is decent at best. Chicks field is weak.

I see men;
Leonard korir
3 guys who've run 1:02 or faster in the half ( translates to 59:00+/-, 20k)
including Willie Melam and Scott Fauble
Women;
Sara Hall
Belainesh Gebre
Becky Wade
Jaci Smith
All could run 1:05-1:06
Flat and fast. Race crew does a great job. Pizza in the area is second to none.
I'll run for that pizza!
"Flat and Fast"?? Have you ever raced New Haven before?? Complete opposite. It's a great hilly run.

Can you tell me where the hills are? I can. One (small ) at the 2 mile mark , the next is at the 9.7 mile mark. WOW!
2 hills in 12.4 miles. OMG, what a baby.
http://64.207.96.69/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/NHaven-070615.pdfIt has over 400ft of elevation gain.
Do you want me to link you what a flat and fast course looks like?
You’ve obviously never raced it. Let me know when you do.

Um.. How do I put this? I live in New Haven. I have lived here for over 20 years.... (notice NHRC) I've run in this race over 20 times. So....
I guess I'm just not a weenie. The course literally finishes just around the corner from the start. I will say again, one short hill at 2, and another not as steep at 9.7ish. Not what I would call "hilly" Hilly, is many hills or several hills. Let me guess, you're a millennial.

Sept 2, I think Leonard korir is unbeatable to repeat. Second to fifth between Fischer, Docherty, Stinson, and william Milam. Next four from Fauble, Jermann, Dandena, or Polerecky. Interested to see if Kirubel Erassa can go with them, hasn’t competed more than ten miles.
I'm surprised that this is the only USATF championship in New England. I'm reading the race website, it's been the championship since 1996? I hope it's a nice day, I'm thinking of driving down and running it this year!
What do you think?

thanks for asking. First off, my original list had 29 women with Emma Bates and Becky Wade. Now its 27 without them.
so Sara hall and Diane Nukuri to fight it out. Hannah Everson, Katy Jermann, and Groner on the next level. Zeis, Bruce, and Gebre for 6th to 8th, and two smokys in Janelle Lincks and Annmarie Tuxbury to round out the ten. I can't find times for Jaci Smith, exc some on the track. my only disclaimer is if Lindsey Scherf finds some 2016 form, she could be inside the ten, or even top 5 again.
Looks solid.
Jermann might push Hall/Nukuri
Look out for Reed Fischer, Willie and Parker
One of the few races in the country that keeps Ryan Shay's memory alive

Yes, please link us to fast, flat courses! If they are faster than New Haven and have half the ammenitites, organization and prize money that this race does, then they must be on the top ten all time. For New England, this course is just about as flat as it gets.
They used to have the 5k championships in Providence for many years. Then they moved them to New York and have them a day or two before the NYC Marathon.
Men's field looks a lot stronger. It's not that there isn't a ton of depth in women's distance running, just a ton of no shows. Would be great to see Hasay, Cragg, Sisson, Taylor, Huddle, Des, etc. Sara Hall is the class of this field & should win easy.
Men's side I like Fauble, Fischer, Korir, Lalang, Stinson. Fauble & Korir will be coming off of the Falmouth Road race (2 weeks before). Fauble just went 28:59 at B2B. He's training for a goal half and is still early on in his training following his 2:09 at Boston and some well deserved time off. Stinson has the Crim 10 miler the week before this where he'll be battling his coach (Ritz). Fischer is presumably using this as a tune-up for Chicago & will likely be in a big training block. I'll take Korir & Fauble to go 1, 2. Will be interesting to see what Lalang can do here. Big talent at Arizona who hasn't done a ton on the pro side but is a part of WCAP now. Just finished 3rd at the Pan Am Games 10k & I'm pretty sure he has never run an event over 10k before.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
