Kudos to Lawi for doing all the work.
Periera really really looked like he was hurting for the Gold over the final 600m. Was just waiting for him to run out of gas, but he just kept powering through!

The American women -- Hiltz and Efraimson -- have to be even more favored than Gregorek. Aisha Praught is the only other woman who as run under 4:11 this year. I have a hard time seeing anyone but them ending up on the podium.
Yeah, that has to be Top 3, but look what happened yesterday in M1500.
For once, the race turned out how it was supposed to, with the five fastest for the year finishing on top.
It will be interesting to see how the rest of Ms. Hiltz's season goes. Very interesting.
Shouldn't the Jamaican National Anthem have more of a ska or reggae feel to it? W 5K final up next.

All the work to do what? It wasn't a time trial requiring a certain pace, it was a race. Why should he get kudos for poor tactics?
USA sweeps the W1500 1-2-3!

59 degrees for upcoming W 5K. Periera the Brazilian 10K winner completely lost it during playing of his national anthem. These PanAm games obviously are way more important to many of these athletes from Central and South America. In a way, it's their Olympics as most won't even qualify for the games.

Non sequitur
Hoppels neurotic need to win qualifying heats will keep him from the dreaded let up too much at the finish line and got passed for the final spot.
KSU alum Laura Galvan gets 4th in the 1500 and wins the 5K 45 minutes later
These Peruvians go crazy anytime any athlete other than from the U.S. goes to the lead.
Laura Galvan Rodriguez, who won the women's 5000, was ran a 4:10 to finish fourth in the 1500 less than an hour before.
That had to hurt.

IAAF doesn't have any results listed for her between 2019 and 2015. In 2015 (last year in the NCAA) her best times were 4:29 and 16:37. In 2019 she comes back out of nowhere and runs 4:11 (4:10 PR today) and 15:27.

What's her story? Her IAAF page doesn't show any races in 2016, 2017 or 2018. Then in 2019, she's run a ton, with some big PBs.
We need to stop posting the same posts at the same time.
In the meantime, does anyone know where she's been???

Lol
Even if she has been racing these last 4 years it's still a remarkable improvement from an NCAA nobody

Galvan has clearly spent some time boosting her performance levels. Mexico’s other 5k entrant was Kenyan road warrior Risper Gesabwa.
Is it really that important to cheat for the Pan Am Games?
