She did get off a line in her post-race PC that will outlive her:

Here is our story on her death.
I always think that it just proves these people would rather die than confess. Again, only a pathological liar would maintain a lie that no one believes.
RIP to the Jane Fonda of the marathon.
There is much about Rosie Ruiz in my Boston Marathon history book and great footage in our Boston Marathon documentary film. You can see her in the film ask what an interval is.
On that day I was doing radio commentary for Boston WBZ from the 20 mile mark. I recited the names of all the top women all of whom I recognized with no doubt and Rosie Ruiz was not among them. So I am personally sure she cheated.

I would argue you, projection is the tell sign.
I would argue you, baseless accusations is a telltale signs.
One thing she couldn't cheat...death.
Not that you guys, Brojos and Jonathan need to know EVERYTHING, but really ...

Maybe she did a lot for the sport looking back at . It did more popular during that time . She had some balls that’s for sure

Musta been the coke.
Dang, I just watched this video which was previously linked. Just take one look at her running form and you can see how obvious this was to anyone who witnessed it live.

I was there that day and when I saw her legs I was 100% sure she did not run 2:31, Quads were all flabby......impossible.
Wait, didn’t LR decide that calling a marathon cheater a marathon cheater is cyber bullying?

I remember working as an intern at mid-size paper's sports desk during the week this all went down. Every journalist there thought she was legit. People outside running have always had a difficult time grasping the nuances that make a great runner, I guess.
On what basis did these "journalists" -and I use the word loosely- determine that Ruiz was "legit?" Was it her lean, sinewy physique?; Her highly efficient and aesthetically pleasing running form?; Or maybe those astute and on-point responses she gave to Katherine Switzer in the post-race interview?
I was running junior high track in 1980, and Ruiz's fraud was so ridiculuously, transparently obvious to anyone with a pulse that nobody I knew, either friends, family, or classmates, whether they were involved with running or not, believed for a second that Ruiz was "legit." In fact, most of us couldn't understood why Ruiz wasn't DQd on the spot.
Assuming your post is true, this "mid-size" paper you interned at had some seriously challenged people on staff.

Holy chromatic abberation Batman! Did the 1980's really look this bad?
Don't be so hard on him. Even Boston Billy and Kathrine Switzer didn't come right out call her a fraud. They sure implied it though.
It is kind of crazy because there was a bandit who jumped in the Olympic Marathon in 1972 before Frank Shorter won...he looked more legit than Rosie did though!
Why don't they cuff and stuff these losers like any other person who runs out into the field during a sporting event????
I found this Reddit post about Rosie. I think the most interesting thing that I learned was that she only ran NY to please her boss, or something like that. She may have even faked a brain tumor to receive a late entry. She took the subway so she could just finish but inserted herself so far ahead of other runners that she was one of the top women and qualified for Boston. Her boss was so impressed he paid her expenses to travel and compete in Boston. And .... Wow ... SHE WON!!!!
Rodgers supposedly examined her feet at one point after the race and commented that she didn't have the typical marathoner's foot with callouses and whatnot......
I'll never understand the psyche of people who feel the need to cheat/pretend to finish races.
