Thanks Dad
Grace peaked 2 years ago and Lauren is peaking this year. Grace will be bummed to be 4th or 5th on her team next year.
Caroline McLeskey, in 3rd place, is a tough competitor. Her PR's are as follows:
1600: 4:53
3200: 10:25
5000 XC: 17:19
Katelyn Hart 16:28.7 at Hornet Red Devil Invite season opener. A 14 second improvement despite making a wrong turn with 500 meters to go.
Hart's 16:28 was a 3 mile (rather than a 5K).
Marlee Starliper's 16:30 for a 5K this weekend was amazing.......
Sydney Thorvaldson just ran a 16:40 (5K) @ Liberty Bell.
The way some of these girls are running to start off the season, Katelyn Tuohy will need to really be on her game to win NXN again this season..........

Yes, she is the top returner from last year's AZ D1 championship.
Hana Hall the returning D2 champ is another one to watch.
Both of them and the Pings are all scheduled to be at Desert Twilight on the 27th.
This is the same course as NXR/SW where Hall finished 2nd last year and is the top returner.
I'll say one thing for Desert Vista: they're not adverse to competing. On their schedule are Woodbridge, Desert Twilight, Clovis, and I'd swear I saw them on the team list for Mt. Sac somewhere.......
So at least with Woodbridge and/or Clovis, I'm thinking we'll see D.V. up against Great Oak.
Is this schedule their norm? I don't really know. Or did the addition of the Pings lead them to up their game, so to speak. Perhaps Messer rejoining the coaching squad inspired them a bit too? Anyone have any insight or thoughts?
Desert Vista cross-country always goes to Woodbridge, Desert Twilight and Nike NXR (southwest region). Desert Twilight and NXR are only 40 miles away from Desert Vista.
In 2018, the boys went to Mt. Sac, and this year both the boys and the girls are scheduled to go to Clovis.
The schedule has nothing to do with either Messer or the Pings. The girls team has the same schedule as the boys team. Last year, the only difference in their schedules was Mt. Sac, and this year they are aligned.
Why So Much Hate for the Pings? wrote:

No "hate" at all: I was just curious. I'm from Minnesota, and I'm a big fan of theirs. I'm totally unfamiliar with their new school, and just wanted to know. I'm really looking forward to cheering them on from a distance.
Anyone know why Grace didn't run Woodbridge? The team could have used her.
Maybe no three-peat: wrote:

perhaps so, but unless Tuohy regresses, her challengers will need to get within 1:30-1:40 of the fast boy runners like she has done.

maybe touhy will be real fast at the end of the season and these girls wont be so fast at the end of the season...big summer of training can lead to early season low times and then the fade when it really matters
What about the Pongs? Are they leaving them behind?

They quickly pulled another Desert Vista girl from a lesser race at the last minute to fill her spot. So who knows? Nothing serious I would presume.....

Grace is injured and I don't know how long she will be out.
BTW, did you see Lauren's interview:

Nice video of the team, including of course much footage of the Pings.

She's a freshman, and she ran a 16:49 last night @ Desert Twilight. (Second last night to Jenna Hutchins' 16:38, and fourth all-time at the event.) She should listen to your advice, and just give up with the running thing.........
