Yes. German TV said it is her mother.
Yes. German TV said it is her mother.
At 12:30 on your video, the commentator says, "that is her mother, on the left on the screen".
Schumacher seems to be the daughter of the woman on the left, she ran a pb, made the final for the first time, so why not have her mother freak out.
The commentators are a pity. By saying, when Koko takes the final bend, that this result will not be enough to make her part of the world's absolute elite, they reveal how much they know about running.

Did they call her a hobbyjogger who will always lose to Muir and the Africans? I think they post here.
So many people there compared to our championship
Now the real mom officially cleared up the confusion. (you can use a translator on the article) It's still a mystery who they are but the hypothesis that they could be relations of Schumacher seems plausible.
They generally don't seem to be good at estimating times. I remember that when Almaz Ayana's was in the last lap of her 10.000m world record race, they commented that this will "even be below 30 minutes".
This time they had help with the splits of Mikitenkos old record and when Koko was ahead 10 secs at 3000m they could be fairly certain it would be a strong improvement.
There was also not much happening in the race and they did not have to switch to a field event (that's why they showed the non-mom...).
In the 3k in Stanford with the switches to HJ and PV and all the excitement with Gidey and Dibaba breaking away and then being caught by Hassan and Koko I was also too excited to realize that it was so damn fast, sub 8:30 sure, but I hadn't paid sufficient attention to see that it would be around or under 8:20. But I am not a professional (or any kind of ) commentator...

According to
https://www.leichtathletik.de/news/news/detail/flash-news-des-tages-6256674044, the older one of the two ladies is indeed Denise Schumacher's mother (who also had some reason to be euphoric as her daughter improved her PB by 10 seconds).

German public tv organized "the finals" where they set up the national chamionships of 10 different disciplines in order to generate some kind of "olympic" feeling...
I use German TV company, over 90 German TV channels online in high quality. Advice - https://germantvcompany.com
