And a huge congratulations to Sam. Another Tinman legitimately makes it to the Worlds in Doha.
OK, all of you sneering xenophobic Americans, and dolts who think that someone who utilizes a dual passport's "other" country opportunities is anti-American, the forum is YOURS! Oh yeah, I forgot to mention you sourpusses who will claim that a guy with a 13:22 lifetime best in the 5k doesn't deserve to go to Doha. Sam finished 2nd in the German championships to a guy whose lifetime best is 13:10. Sam earned his ticket to Doha.
Yep, you detractors, Sam isn't going to medal in Doha. But he is running in Doha.
Meanwhile, he is laughing with glee as he grins broadly. Way to go, Sam! Enjoy celebrating your exciting result! Doha! Ha! Ha!
Did Grant Fisher also make it to Doha?
And Amos Bartelsmeyer is the German champ in the 1500m.
Such a Deutsche
Ringer destroyed him, and Ringer is self-coached for over a year and training by himself almost exclusively (there is no one in Germany that can do workouts with him).
Parsons came to win this but Ringer showed him his place.
Also one of the only runners who shares his entire training log for free on Strava, feel free to follow him:
Hard to root for a guy who was all about America until it didn't benefit him anymore.

First thing this guy does is claim how a Delaware native is going to Worlds. Does making a world team for Germany even mean something to someone who is so proudly patriotic to be American?
We're off to a good start on this thread. A smattering of posters have found ways to dump on Sam Parsons, who was a Delawarean, a North Carolinian, a Coloradan, always an American, until he saw an opportunity to use his heritage to go to the World Championships far from American soil, dressed in a German singlet!
C'mon, haters, don't stop now! After all, this is LetsRun, where there's probably a contest for "Most Spiteful Post of the Week".
So, remember - Mr. Parsons, born and raised in America, will be representing Germany on the international stage. Okay, I hope this will raise the ire of a few more haters who will show their true-blue American patriotism by posting anti-Parsons caca here.
Let me add something for the flag-waving, small-minded folks: Sam's first name is the same as that of the great U.S. Uncle in the striped clothes who represents those great ideals of American patriotism. Ya want Mr. Parsons to change his first name to Dieter now? Speak up, ye of "America, love it or leave it" brain damage.
No, he scratched or he would have won the 5k.
who cares about a traitor who couldn't compete with the big boys so he runs away from competition.
no respect for him. NONE>

No, he just scratched. That should be the end of your statement, even though Grant is a proven top U.S. contender, when healthy. "Would have" doesn't stand up, whether we're talking about Grant or someone with a slower PR. If I claim that 13:39 5k runner Aaron Templeton "would have" won the 5k, had he started (he was entered), it has the same validity as your statement.
Whatever the reason for Grant's scratch - injury, no doubt - I wish him well. It is a bummer that he didn't compete in Des Moines.
I disagree with his approach. He's an amazing runner - no doubt about that. I think it's taking the easy road to the world champs. If you are so proud, go earn the USA singlet and not another countries through a loop hole. Just my 2 cents.

Maybe he should join Tinman Elite then?
Why? He gets to be one of the few runners who gets to go to worlds now. It’s best for his runner career and I can’t blame him.
No, Fisher would have won.
Praught is the biggest traitor. She had never even met her father when she switched countries. How about Mondo? What did he gain?
Sam is very disrespectful to the flag.
Have some respect for the flag.
The flag is offended.
Flag.
I love flag.
