If you mean Fox News, then yes. They are partially responsible for being completely irresponsible in their efforts to demonize people of color.

Lol. While we’re at it let’s blame immigrants, politicians, poor people, liberals etc... they are responsible for creating an environment for the shooters to flourish. If only they were all white and weren’t causing trouble, we wouldn’t have this problem.
Typical american attitude, blaming everyone but the shooters themselves. To blame the media is to avoid confronting the reality of the problem.

How does Fox News demonize people of color? Please provide examples to support your inaccurate opinion.
In the meantime in Chicago......
If the media is to blame, why does it only inspire shootings in the US when the stories have worldwide reach?
There were two “mass” shootings in Chicago this weekend. Why isn’t everybody talking about that? Does the incident not support their political argument?

No we feel the shooter is responsible.
We also wonder why all of these shooters who are solely responsible for the shootings happen to live in the US and not in Canada or Japan or England or Germany?

Um, Einstein, because this discussion is not about gang -related violence, Reprehensible as it might be, the idea of turf wars makes sense to most people. Shooting our sister and then 7 other people you don't know or shooting 20 people you don't know makes no kind of sense. Understand now?
No! We must blame Trump. Only Trump. For everything. Always.
Got it. Only talk about mass shootings that can be blamed on Trump and the NRA. ?

No. Just stick to the topic at hand - white supremacists that feel a newly found sense of legitimacy and empowerment. Start (yet) another thread on gang violence if that is truly a concern of yours.

What's both funny and sad is that if Trump had a D after his name instead of an R, and that was the ONLY THING different about him, the people who currently bash him would defend him, and the people who currently defend him would bash him. This very thread is just an extension of people waving the pompoms for their favorite political team.
No. I think that shooters are almost wholly responsible for mass shootings. Maybe some blame can be attributed to their parents for not raising them properly.
The main news agencies definitely over report mass shootings. I wouldn’t doubt it one bit if they were making the mass shooting crisis much worse.

I’m serious - they inspire future killings by making the killers insanely famous, airing the killers name for weeks on end. All of these murders know for a fact if they go blast a few people that CNN / Fox will have them famous within 5 mins.
The bad part? The media organizations love the shootings as they make literally upon millions of dollars in ad revenue/ commercials from all the people who click on the articles or watch the stuff on TV. It seems like legislation needs to be passed to prevent this stuff from being covered as it’s a sick loop of people making money off killings which inspires more shootings.
Well there are studies that in pandemic media coverage exacerbates the problem. Such as countries or regions with low suicide rates will have a couple highly publicized suicides all of a sudden there will be a huge spike in the suicide rate as others follow suit. So there is a little bit of a herd mentality where people are pushed over the brink to take an action they normally wouldn't after seeing it repeatedly reported on either on TV or in print.
Can’t say all I really want to and don’t have the time, but if you’re blaming the news media for perpetuating this you’ got some serious thinking to do.
I think you’re taking for granted the freedom of press, availability of information without realizing it. Yes, mass media and journalism stays afloat by reporting news, including mass shootings. If you look at things the way you do, you can make almost any industry look bad. Healthcare workers need people to be sick to make money. Law enforcement needs crime in order to be in demand. Etc. this thinking is flawed, you see.
Don’t you feel the same way about the firearm industry?
What am I wrong about?
The media (all of them) are a major part of this. Nonstop coverage. How they cover it. It is all sick. Our society is so screwed up.
All these people just died and the way the news networks’ coverage is the problem to you?
Also stop using ‘the media’ as a blanket term, such a cop out. Who do you mean? Which networks? It’s just as bad as when people say ‘society’ in that broad sense, so lazy.
