I would assume a sub-5 second 40 yards would be something a world class 800 meter man could do rolling out of bed in the morning? Am I wrong?
Retirement automatically makes you slow. It’s a mental thing
His three point stance is a bit awkward.
i need to go watch some of his races again hes kinda built funny. how does he go 1:42ish? im still mystified. he went that low timewise especially as a D3 guy.
Doesn't that make him slow for a quarterback?

Forty-yard dash as done in N.F.L., N.F.L. guys with similar 400m personal best as Nick Symmonds, tend to have 40 yard dash P.B. in 4.1x to 4.5x range. Considering that Symmonds was a XC and T&F guy, Symmonds does not have muscle memory from his teens and twenties sprinting fast. It would not surprise me if Symmonds never was able to sprint faster than 4.7x 40 yard dash, as done in N.F.L.

this is BS. hes probably got natural 47 or 48 speed. 40s gotta be pretty decent, even on an nfl scale. not now but in his prime. now he flyfishes and sells gum, so disregard current times

NO ONE has natural sub-49 400m speed! Everyone has to work hard to get sub-49 400m. An N.F.L. player doing as many as 25 x 100 yard sprints is hard work. As an 800m runner, Nick Symmonds worked very hard to get his 400m time down to 47.xx 400m. You obviously disagree with me that Symmonds, at his best was a 4.7x 40 yard dash guy, as measured by N.F.L. Am. football players are doing 25 yard and 50 yard sprints daily. A XC runner like Symmonds who was going on 10 to 15 mile runs on a regular basis was not going to have the same short sprinting ability as a N.F.L. player with a similar 400m personal best.
First he proclaims his 10 meter fly time makes him faster than Bolt, now he compares himself to Tom Brady in the 40 (LOL on that one). What is Nick trying to achieve with this nonsense? Is that what his fanboys want to see? Nick is looking ridiculous with these antics.
I did it too big deal. Not really a major accomplishment
Nick go away and stop posting about yourself
Your a has been.
Your 15 minutes are up now go away
Notably, he is running in bare feet. With spikes, he would be a lot faster.
He wants attention guys that is the reason for all of this BS... Who...........Cares!?!?
And i was a big fan of him as an athlete
He says Ross has the WR, but Coleman ran 4.12 pretty casually a few years back
Not true. A lot of people have natural sub 49 speed. They just aren't in sub 49 shape.
Anyone thinking someone running under 49 means they could run a 4.1 is crazy. There isn't a single 400m runner that could run a 4.2. They don't have the acceleration for it. Norman and wayde would obviously have a good shot at 4.2 lol. But they're 43 second guys and sub 10 second sprinters
Nick was alway very critical of USATF and how athletes were treated, yet outside of pissing and moaning never really did anything to try to change things.
Hey Nick here is a challenge for you - who about you get involved in USATF either at the local or national level (better yet both) and try to help change the system from within instead of grandstanding.
Come on big guy yes I am calling you out put your money where your mouth is
Bum as* Nick trying to resurrect what's left of his reputation. Give it up and fade into obscurity buddy....
i did 9.9 running start 100y
but that was timed from reaction. so that is plus 0.3
then its nearly more second to 100m.
then add 1.0 second for running start.
thats like 12x for 100m.
getting under 12 for a distance guy is hard out of the blocks one learns,
it is weird to get up to speed.
that is a real skill.
something which is pretty useless in middle distance running.
which is why mo farah is lousy, he's have to train for the start.
the running start 200m is the best indicator of speed in this case.
practical speed.
that's all she wrote.
A 1:43 flat 880 yards averages 4.68' per 40 yards ... of course there is the benefit of 21 rolling starts ... just saying.
Former 1:49 guy
