He's a college graduate; however the money to be made as pro "female" runner had been too much for he and his manager etc to resist. Ergo, if Caster took a Basic Ethics class, he failed miserably.
I have no doubt that some day the whole scam story will come out about he and his people and this long swindle they've pulled.
Shame on them all.
No penis = lesbian sex with her wife.
That's a female-female type sex.
Two vulvas, no penis.
Explain how that's hetersexual coitus.
RunRagged, I appreciate the very lengthy explanation, less than half of which is quoted above. To be sure, on a level that transcends sport I stand by a person refusing to take a medication that most if not all medical boards would declare unethical. In no way do I stand by the Semenya's of the world when they think they have a right to compete against women. It is very unfortunate to have such a disorder as Semenya, and I have compassion for Caster, but believe the way Eric (formerly Erica) Schinegger handled the same circumstances was the way to go about it.
Going into whether or not Caster could handle the same pain that women do/may experience isn't going to help this discussion. There can be no doubt that Caster has experienced more emotional pain than most of us are likely ever to. Imagine having such a disorder and getting hate mail, death threats, and who knows what other insults from people all over the world. Maybe Caster has a high pain tolerance and threshold or maybe not, but that's not relevant here.
We are coming at this from a different place. I picture Caster being my child. I do not always agree with my child's actions and tell them as much when I disagree with them and why. But I still stand by my child to not be wronged. You know it's cliche, but I do believe there is merit to the saying two wrongs don't make a right and that's how I see this situation. Caster is wrong, but it's also wrong to require someone to take medication that alters them. I don't agree with it and I'm fully aloud to have that opinion and voice it.
Disagree, every race with Semenya is boring. She basically jogs a 1:55 for the win. It is interesting insofar as she acts like a pace setter but that's really not worth much. Much prefer the 800 without her.

Agreed.
I don't think IAAF is mandating anything. IAAF is setting a limit to a measurable parameter (the level of testosterone) which is commonly agreed as THE parameter - and the only measurable one - that derives from having the Y chromosome. They do that for 2 reasons: 1) 46 XY DSD is not a unique condition, it's a spectrum. There are several possibilities, having a completely different effect on testosterone and as a consequence on sport performance. 2) They don't think - at least for the moment - that it's worth defining separate categories for DSD people. They leave it to the athlete to make a choice whether or not to do something to stay within that limit, if they want to participate to an event within the "female" category because it's the one they feel they belong to for gender reasons. Obviously the medical treatment, either taking pills or having testes removed by surgery, has consequences, but honestly many things that people do to be elite athletes have consequences. And here we're talking about something that the medical community itself (correct me if i'm wrong) has widely accepted when that is done for better gender identification by DSDs or people transitioning from male to female. Why in one case it's accepted, and in the other case it's considered unethical? I don't know if Caster Semenya is happy with her body based on her inner feelings, and i understand it may not be fair to make assumptions on such a subject. However, her strong will to continue competing, winning, and earning a lot of money in female sport (not to mention that she's calling it a human right) while perfectly knowing her condition - since at least 10 years - makes me a bit less "sensitive". I can only conclude that she values her success in sport more than anything else.
Doesn't most professional athletes value their success in sports more than anything else?
Maybe, but they accept to compete within certain rules. For sure Semenya and her team have taken advantage of a "hole" in the regulations, but the only alternative to those regulations in sport is to remove any distinction between men and women. The more she continues defending her case the way she's doing (human rights, discrimination, unethical IAAF behavior, etc...) the more i lose sympaty to her.

Swyer syndrome is a condition that affects sexual development. Sexual development is usually determined by an individual's chromosomes; however, in Swyer syndrome, sexual development does not match the affected individual's chromosomal makeup.
People usually have 46 chromosomes in each cell. Two of the 46 chromosomes, known as X and Y, are called sex chromosomes because they help determine whether a person will develop male or female sex characteristics. Girls and women typically have two X chromosomes (46,XX karyotype), while boys and men usually have one X chromosome and one Y chromosome (46,XY karyotype). In Swyer syndrome, individuals with one X chromosome and one Y chromosome in each cell, the pattern typically found in boys and men, have female reproductive structures.
People with Swyer syndrome have typical female external genitalia. The uterus and fallopian tubes are normally-formed, but the gonads (ovaries or testes) are not functional; affected individuals have undeveloped clumps of tissue called streak gonads. Because of the lack of development of the gonads, Swyer syndrome is also called 46,XY complete gonadal dysgenesis. The residual gonadal tissue often becomes cancerous, so it is usually removed surgically early in life.
People with Swyer syndrome are typically raised as girls and have a female gender identity. Because they do not have functional ovaries, affected individuals usually begin hormone replacement therapy during adolescence to induce menstruation and development of female secondary sex characteristics such as breast enlargement and uterine growth. Hormone replacement therapy also helps reduce the risk of reduced bone density (osteopenia and osteoporosis). Women with this disorder do not produce eggs (ova), but they may be able to become pregnant with a donated egg or embryo.
Swyer syndrome usually affects only sexual development; such cases are called isolated Swyer syndrome. However, depending on the genetic cause, Swyer syndrome may also occur along with health conditions such as nerve problems (neuropathy) or as part of a syndrome such as campomelic dysplasia, which causes severe skeletal abnormalities.

Ummm... isn't that the whole point of making 400m-1500m/mile "restricted" events? IF Semenya moves up to 5k, she will not be dominant like she is in 800m. She may be competitive, but her presence will not destroy the competition for other athletes. Some one may potentially lose a spot on the South African team for Olympic or World, but that's a relatively minor problem for IAAF.

I don't know what kind of training Semenya and the other 46 XYs do but you could see why they would not want to move up in events because it takes more time and mileage that they likely haven't been doing for the majority of their careers. The fact that Semenya beat Scott in the SA 5K championships and still doesn't want to move up is curious. You've dominated the sport since the start of your career...you don't desire a new challenge? Seems pretty questionable to me on all points. I feel no sympathy for them on the grounds of their ethics in light of all the information they now have about their situation.
My cynical take on this is that Semenya might be preparing for her second career as an LGBTAIQ activist. By now she must know the lawsuit is a long shot at best, but fighting this to the bitter end is important to shore up her credential as an activist and motivational speaker. No matter what people here think, she has a lot of supporters outside of the athletic world, and there will be plenty of organizations that will invite her for a talk.
I will not put Niyonsaba and Wambui in the same category at this point. Unlike Semenya, they are not fighting the IAAF decision. I don't know what their future plans are. But I don't think Wambui has a future as a distance runner. Kenya has too much depth in 5000m, she won't be a factor. Niyonsaba will not have much of a competition in Burundi. (Their NR is 15:33.) Whether she could be world class in 5k is another question.
That's also my feeling, and to be honest i don't think it's that cynical. It's just reality. A lot of people are inspired by her as a person, and by her fight for "rights". They're typically people who don't do sport, at least not professional sport, and don't even try to understand the unfairness of the situation for professional female atheletes who have trained (most probably) much more than Semenya and others did for their whole life, and nevertheless can only fight for 4th place in world class 800m events. Once Semenya career is over, she will continue having a lot of supporters and influence a lot of people.
I don't think we can be so sure about that. I mean, we all know that the more the distance, the more you need a specific and continous training to accustom to that distance. That's why we see more aged athletes succeeding in those events. But the difference between male and female records is always 10-12%, in whatever event, no matter of duration and physical effort. Semenya won't be as dominant as she is in 800m simply because her training was never "tailored" to 5k or longer distances, and possibly because she has other characteristics that make her less competitive on that distance, but i do feel that sooner or later someone will come and destroy the competition on those distances as well. At the end, it's always testosterone that creates that 10-12% difference, whatever the distance. It's true that no world classe 400/800 has ever moved up to 5k on men's side, but that's not just because they can't be competitive on that distance based on their characteristics, it's also because the competition creates specialization: they know that if they move they are not likely to succeed because of a number of combined aspects that will make them less competitive than others. But none of those men have a known and natural advantage that can go up to 12% over their competitors (we don't know exactly where Semenya and the other 2 stand against XX women). Personally, i believe the regulation will have to be extended at a certain point in time.

Blah blah
"lets quote genetic stuff" to confuse people
I do understand 1st yr Genetics, but Caster does not have 'typical female genitalia'. There is no "uterus and fallopian tubes are normally-formed" and he was not 'raised as girls and have a female gender identity".
Do not make things up to suit your argument.
He is 46 XY, DSD with un-descended testes , which are actually the organs that are producing the testosterone at the heart of the issue here.
There is no uterus and fallopian tubes, however inadequately formed, there never was.
When they tried raising him as a girl ( for no other reason than absence of penis), he was determined to self -identify as a boy.
He identifies and dresses up like a male in his relationship with his wife
To your previous point on 'non penis' sex , again that does not make him a woman....you are also able to engage non penis sex whether you 'take it' or 'give it' with a dildo, it does not determine your sex.
...and again, he does not have a vulva...don't make things up.
In all respects, scientifically and socially, he is a male, but when it comes to athletics, he wants to participate with and dominate the females.
Now that he's been made aware of the genetic determinations, his refusal to accept it is bordering on disgraceful, and loses the public sympathy that he ought to have for his abnormalities

I think the point the poster is making is that 'no normal world class 400/800 athlete' has moved to 5,000m , yet it is likely that Caster could dominate that too, because simply put, as a 'good male' athlete (of high scholl calibre) she should be able to.

Very unlikely, you are assuming that as a 'college graduate' he should be able to be a good speaker, but he hasn't got that intellect and ability.
The whole fight is being driven by others behind him

Exactly, if those testes produce hot cream Caster can get the wife pregnant. I don't know any other women that can do that.q
Thank you for Wikipedia but Semenya does not have Swyer Syndrome. "She" does not have female reproductive organs while she has functional testes - hence male levels of testosterone.
Beside how she identifies herself , your last sentence is the core of the issue here: Semenya has been made aware of her genetic, she knows she has a huge advantage that purely come from her male "internal" biology, but she doesn't accept anything that can reduce that advantage and claims it's her "human right" to continue this way. This is unacceptable, with all respect to her and all the difficulties she's for sure gone through. Do you feel a woman? Then explain me why you're not willing to do anything that would simply make you "more woman", like many other DSDs and MTF transitioning people do. The only possible answer is: you don't do that because you don't want to lose that advantage, and you want to continue winning and making a lot of money in professional sport. Or maybe, maybe... you don't really feel woman enough?
Good, He shouldn't be running against girls, he has XY chromosomes, no womb or ovaries, and internal testicles. Sorry for the birth defects but he is a man, take away his medals and end his career because he couldn't make it as a male runner.
