Women's race: 1st = Almaz AYANA (ETH) - 29:17.45
Men's race: 32nd (and last) = Mohammed AHMED (CAN) - 29:32.84
So the answer is yes. :) The guy who came in 31st was faster than the women's race winner though.
This might not be a good comparison. It's likely that Ahmed tried to keep up with the big boys and had a big positive split.
