Murphy is going backwards if you ask me. And having Donovan there is not helping.
You can’t train with someone who is better than you or is the top dog. Murphy is going to have to leave if he wants to get back to top level again.
Salazar is too focused on Hassan, Yomif, hasay and rupp.
This has been well known information for about a year at least.
Also, I just think Murphy has been doing a lot of base/strength work. I think he may end up peaking better than brazier. But Julian is a good coach in his own right.

Nah there is huge difference between donovan and Clayton. Donovan is far superior. He had the WL before Amos ran 1:41.

Murphy wasn’t as sharp across the season as Brazier was. I was worried before USAs, but it’s seems like they switched from a strength focus back to a speed focus, and he looked great because of it.
Brazier is looking phenomenal, but when Murphy is at his best, I think they’re interchangeable. Look at tonight’s final, Murphy was boxed until 150, and still managed to walk down Hoppel AND almost catch Brazier.
He showed us these last two years that at his worst he’s a 1:44 guy and at his best he’s running 1:42.
Murphy shouldn’t be slept on.

Really? Rupp won an Olympic silver medal training with Farah whom he's never beat except one indoor race where Farah fell. I see what you're saying though. Can't be the best in the world if you're not even the best in your training group.
Clayton has run 3:51 and 3:52 in the mile this year. He's coming into USA's having juggled between 800m and 1500m training. Now that he can do 800m specific training, you'd expect him to be a lot sharper for world's.

I think Brazier and Murphy are probably even as far as sharp workouts. Remember, Brazier ran very fast early in the year but hadn't been training much prior to coming back. He took what like a year off or something and wasn't even running at all one point. I tend to think Donovan is just on another level right now. I mean he just ran 55/50. That shows he's learned to win a race any type of way now. His tactics and strength are just way better these days. Keep in mind he was only 19 the year he broke Ryun's NCAA record. I'm definitely not sleeping on Murphy. Still, Donovan Brazier has matured into a consistent world class 800 runner and he's clearly got the edge on Murphy right now.

You can't train with someone who is better than you? Thats the only reason why Brazier qualified...because he is training with someone better than him. Remember, Murphy will always be that 1:42 runner...Brazier will always be that 1:43 runner.

I’m not saying Donavan (you’ve been spelling his name wrong) isn’t incredibly fit right now, because he is.
I didn’t watch the race, and looking at the results I figured it was just a good battle and the better man won, but I saw a clip of the last 50m and Murphy was FLYING. I heard he got boxed in. And Murphy is the 1:42 guy with an Olympic medal. I think worlds will be really interesting.

Salazar coaches the Nike Oregon project. Pete Julian holds a stopwatch.
Julian was put there to take some heat off of the Nike Oregon project after the NOP doping stuff from 2015 started to bring a lot of negative attention to the group.
If you follow any one of them on social media you see that they all train together. It's just one team.

Murphy keeps putting himself in 6th place with 200 to go and trying to kick past people thinking he's the best kicker. He's not a 400/800 guy, he's a 800/1500 guy. He doesn't have the top speed like Brazier, so I don't know why he thinks he can kick ahead of those types of guys. He needs to put himself in good position and try to hold on.
