Challenger Games was not about real track & field athletes performing at elite standards. It was about creating an event for YouTubers to get together, have fun and raise money for charity (Special Olympics and others). The only "athlete" invited was Deestoying (Donald De La Haye), a kicker on the practice squad (!) of the CFL Toronto Argonauts. He ran 11.07 in the 100 prelim without any coaching or training.
So for all of you comparing times, form, equipment to an elite track event, you're missing the point. Nobody is talking about the fact that Challenger Games was live-streamed FREE (thanks NBC Gold, Flotrack and RunnerSpace) and in the first couple hours had 180,000 viewers. Paul and Jake Logan combined have 40 million YouTube followers, Ryan Trahan who ran 5:07 1600 has about 2 million, so the marketing exposure is huge. And yes this was not a Flotrack quality event (not that Flotrack should be the standard, and remember this was FREE), but the event was the 1st of its kind and announced only 30 days ago!

Sorry LRC but we need more events like this to create the buzz and attraction for millennials to participate in track & field. Challenger Games 2020 will be more professional and will attract sponsorship and viewership. The Logans are marketing geniuses (including the "fake" injuries to create drama). They'll get it right.
