Pretty cool she could run this well.
She didn't run at all for 5 weeks and started back up last Friday. Said her only speed work was 1 400 and 1 200 and strides.
I don't see how she makes the team but she ran way better than I thought someone with that little running would do.

Ce'Aira Brown won her in 800 heat yesterday despite only speed work in last 5 weeks being ONE 400 and ONE 200 (and strides)

....and now she's in the Finals! Sounded like she was crushing the cross training stuff, but still, with so so little running, v impressive.

Missed the final by .03. Basically did not run through the line and got nipped. Sad to see. -

That was a bit odd under the circumstances. Makes me wonder if she re-fractured her foot and knew she was done for year. -
Grant Fisher ran a 4 min mile in HS with no speedwork:
"Scannell somewhat infamously told Jeff Hollobaugh for the Mercury-Times that his athlete did no speed work in preparation for his 4:02 win at the adidas Dream Mile last year, or either of his Foot Locker championships.
The difference between mile-paced intervals and pure "speed work" is about five to 10 percent - or, the difference between "comfortably hard" and going to the well."
The 800 and 1600 are still primarily aerobic events. Look at Symmonds training. Lots of 1k repeats, tempo runs and mileage. The speed work was just the icing on the cake.
If she kept her aerobic fitness up with cross-training while being injured, perfect. Talent (and speed is highly genetic) doesn't go away with some weeks off, and she was able to show hers in the race! -
She's on to something here Wejo, cross training needs more exploration. Optimal training maybe slightly less running, some cycling/eliptigo/aqua jogging for extra conditioning
