Dude ran 159 and 50.x a few years back.
That makes him fast in my book.
If you look at the population as a whole, you might want to change the terminology. If you meant "elite" as opposed to just "good", the title would make more sense based on the names handed out.
Sure, the names listed so far may not be elite runners. but if you can hold a 6 minute mile pace for 3, heck even 2, miles you're definitely good. In layman's terms, anyone who can run even a 6 minute single mile is considered a good runner.
Get out of your running bubble and then you'd appreciate just how difficult and enviable a 6 minute mile is for most people.
Bart Yasso. He got famous for "inventing" a ridiculous workout, and for giving a speech that basically goes, "I ran here and it was really hot. I ran there and it was really cold. I ran somewhere else and it was really hilly."
There is one ultrarunner who posts on here once in a while, talking about him in 3rd person terms. I fortunately forgot his name. BTW, it's not Sage, he actually is a good runner although struggling a bit the last couple of years - the other guy is probably slower than the average hobby jogger.

Just because someone is not elite does not mean they're not good runners... Elite is the top 1% and Good is probably any guy that can break 18 minutes in the 55, say, the top 10% or 15%.
You got your percentages pretty far off

In what way? Among actual runners, as opposed to joggers, the top 10 or 15% of guys can definitely break 18 minutes. I guess it depends on at what pace running ends and jogging begins.

Say what you will about their personalities and wont for self-promotion, unless you are better 21st all time in the world in your event or have run 31:36 f/27:45 m for 10000 m, you don't have a lot to say.
Alexi Papas Fritas 31:36.16 ranks #657 in the world all-time and she's annoying af. She's slow, can't act, can't write, her poetry is painful to read and she's an attention whore.
Alex I is a good runner. Lolo Jones is tied at#21 world ranking in the 100 meter hurdles.

I wouldn't call someone elite unless they are running under 13:30, and much much fewer than 1% of people can do that.

Ok, I was thinking more like just under 14:00, a standard most of your best local studs can't even make on the roads.
Or maybe we can just use whatever the Trials standards are for the elite cutoff.

Not saying sub 14 isn't good but a lot of guys in college get there. I wouldn't call it elite, but nowhere near 1% get to that level.
Camille Herron must be the most overrated female ultrarunner in history.

Really? You don't have to like a runner's personality to respect what their body of work is.
