Looking for all the famous runners out there that really arent elite but somehow managed to make it seem they were.
Examples.
Dean Karnazes
David Goggins.
Who else you got?

Goggins might market himself as being better than he really is as far as results go, but in interviews he has admitted to not being an elite athlete. Though his pull-up feat is impressive.

Uhh. One of the dumbest posts here of 2019.
Say what you will about their personalities and wont for self-promotion, unless you are better 21st all time in the world in your event or have run 31:36 f/27:45 m for 10000 m, you don't have a lot to say.

Alexi Papas Fritas 31:36.16 ranks #657 in the world all-time and she's annoying af. She's slow, can't act, can't write, her poetry is painful to read and she's an attention whore.

I think you mean "fast runners" because you haven't defined "good".
Both examples are actually great runners in terms of success as runners in continuity, longevity and being injury-free.
Jamin is actually fast A.F.
Just because someone is not elite does not mean they're not good runners... Elite is the top 1% and Good is probably any guy that can break 18 minutes in the 55, say, the top 10% or 15%.
Jim Fixx
Scott Jurek is one of the toughest and best ultra runners to have run.
The roads and trails are different beasts.
Alexi Pappas is a good runner, but her traitorous decision to run for Greece is not a brave act.

sadly in America this may soon be true. But I can still get to 55m a lot quicker than that.
