Ran a few road races in the Seattle area. My first one was the Sound to Narrows back in 1977. It's a 7.6 mile race in Tacoma, WA and was a pretty big deal due to the size of the field. Ran the Seafair Torchlight run in 1977 as well. It was a 4 mile run that started in downtown Seattle and ended in Memorial stadium. Ran the Seattle Summerun in 1978 along the shore of Lake Washington. It was a 7 mile race that started in one park and ended in another. Point to point course. In all of these races the top runners in the area turned up and there were a lot of fast times run.
Club Northwest assisted with some of the races. They also sponsored the summer all comer track meets out at the West Seattle stadium. Not sure what the entry fee was but it was pretty low. Bill Roe started the meets and I believe he is still involved with them today. The location of the meets has changed a few times over the years but they have been going on for over 40 years and probably closer to 45+ years.
