I'm more impressed with Sifran's range. She's 1:56 800m, 4:12 WR in the mile 14:22 in the 5k and 65.xx in the half marathon. Anyone know someone who compares to that?

Doper Alptekin also did 57.92 at the 2012 EC but it was a 4:05 race.
The only one I could think of that comes close is the 1999 WC in Seville where Svetlana Masterkova outkicked Regina Jacobs for a ~58.45 last lap and CR 3:59.53. Still not as good as Muir but it was a championship final with all the prelims and so on.
https://youtu.be/3A4bFIUkEWcThe answer is who cares? She ran 3:58 to win a soft Diamond League. When Muir can hold it together a successfully execute a performance at worlds that earns her a medal then I’ll care. For now just over two months to Doha.

How can a supersonic 3:55 girl not medal in an Olympic or WC event? ?
This is a weird situation wrote:

Just ask 2015, 2016 or 2017 Muir after failed to medal at each of those global champs.
no one's done it except Muir but we shouldn't take a second look because she's white

Or ask Paula MF Radcliffe.

And how far off is she from a doped former Chinese world record, and an even better record by an Ethiopian whose coach left used EPO needles in the trash? Or has she hewn an 8 second chunk from a former world record, like the Kenyan steeplechase record holder? Being white isn't enough to make her efforts suspicious; she has quite a lot of catching up to do with those who are.

I think the reason you do not see too many times like this is because rarely does an athlete of the quality of Muir race such a soft field like that race in London without the intention of using it to specifically attack a world or national record attempt. Thus, either a) the star athlete goes for a really fast time from the gun and drops the otherwise weak field, making a historically fast last lap an impossibility or b) the race has several star athletes and those athletes cannot help but start to pick it up from 600 or 700m out, which also prevents a historically fast last lap.
We don't races play out like this very often for these ^ reasons. I expect we'll continue to see unusual splits from Laura Muir because she appears to be toying with weak fields, using races like this to practice different tactics.
todays athletes are still on industrial strength steroids, plus hgh, plus epo.depending on the event,of course.nothings changed.if anything, its gotten much worse.if anything i say theyre taking too many drugs, and that may be preventing them from breaking more world records.bare in mind, doped or not, kazankina, kratochvilova, and koch were still amazingly talented.drugs alone, wasnt responsible for doing what they did.
