We can agree to disagree, but I don’t think the major cities in Texas are anything special.

Boulder Colorado.
Especially for running, it is the most overrated place to train.
Anyone that goes to Boulder to TRAIN is a moron.
It is inferior to every major altitude location in the US. It has the worst weather of every major altitude destination. (minus flagstaff, which gets pass because it's at REAL altitude).
The dirt roads are stupid and rekt.
The amount of sub-elite, B-string runners is a nightmare.
Tin man didn’t think so. What places are you comparing it to besides Flagstaff? Most of them are shitholes (eg places like Alamosa and Leadville?)

NO ONE is arguing with you on that. For something to be "overrated," some people have to rate it high.
I don't know if English is your 3rd or 4th language, but you should probably look up the word in a dictionary to learn what it means.
Over rated for what?
Chicago
Sadly after 25 years here, I think that Denver falls into this category.
Global warming has made summer temperatures soar. Combined with the mountains driving frequent inversions and the huge increase in traffic here (40% population increase in Denver city, from 500k to 700k), ozone pollution is a big issue with Ozone Action Days commonplace for 2-3 months of the year.
The aforementioned growth has greatly diminished ski season, with weekend rush hour starting at 545am / 2pm and 10-15 min lift lines common.
* 500k to 700k increase in population in Denver city in the past decade.

As a libertarian, global warming is a myth.

if you think most people prefer the South to the West, then you are out of touch with reality. I have never heard one person NOT from the South say they prefer the South.
But I do prefer the South to the Northeast. People from the northeast love to say that the south is a racist $h!thole when actually the north far worse
I first visited Eugene for the '72 Oly Trials and it was just a big small town, with hippies, cowboys, college students, farmers, loggers, runners and athletes of all types and sports, and they appeared to get along. It was also pre-Nike.
I went back for the 2016 Trials and it was a "what the F**k" experience. Its a mini Portland with all the problems magnified.

It looks like a large amount of the West Coast cities are dramatically overrated. Just the opposite of how they feel about themselves. Who'd have guessed it?
Thank you for setting me straight. I had no idea.

It seems like if you’re going to live in Denver and ski, you need to buy a condo up near the ski resorts or else you’re an idiot on I-70

Housing there is cheap, so it's got that going for it.

Gary, Indiana. It is always mentioned on letsrun as a great place to live and train, but I just don't see it.
