Small towns are amazing, cities are amazing, the suburbs are like Applebee's, the best at absolutely nothing. Most people aren't there because they actually love them, they just end up there out of convenience and then they defend them out of necessity. It's where the non-risk takers end up, coasting through life on a riding lawnmower, trying to convince themselves they are having a great time.
Pros and Cons to suburbia. The main thing is that you have to be into what suburbia offers, examples
(1) 3+ car garage to fit daily drivers for you and wife, and your weekend/project car
(2) yard for activities with family
(3) usually tend to be better public school systems
Cons
well... being in the city definitely is a lot more fun..
