Disappointing. I find her 4:02 much more impressive than 15:08. The 1500m is more of a crapshoot at world's, a strong 1500m runner who keeps their head can place well in a final. If you aren't sub 15 you are gonna struggle to make the 5000m final and unless you're sub 14:45 you realistically are just gonna get dropped like a rock in the final.
She def had the ability to make it in the 15 too.
I agree from a competitive standpoint in terms of Worlds. What's the point of going to worlds as a 1508 5000 runner. You get DESTROYED.
At 4:02, you at least are competitive.
I'm surprised she didn't do both. The 1500 is before the 5000 at USAs. So why not try for that and then if that doesn't go well, try the 5000.
The 1500/5000 double at Worlds is impossible but at USAs it's really easy.
That being said, I'm impressed by her confidence in the 500 ability. The 4th seed in the 1500 scratches that event to be the 6th seed in the 5000. I hope she makes a team as she's a big talent.
