Male Hassan, even though also today proved he isn't totally used to distances longer than 5000m for now.
Ok here's something for you. I bet the next time Chelimo runs a 10K time trial race in prime conditions he runs between 27:00-27:30. Pretty bold right?
Go ahead and call me clairvoyant.

A "smattering" of Ethios go under 27.
Amazing!! They have six runners under 27:00 minutes, and some countries cannot find one runner to dip under the mark.

Ethiopia and Kenya produce LOTS, ONLY 7 other Countries have produced any. USA is tied for 3rd
USA-2
Qatar-2
Uganda-2
Great Britain-1
Belgium-1
Eritrea-1
Morroco-1
Great race. That is some high quality team that Ethiopia will be sending if all three of those guys run it. Amazing that Rupp ran four seconds faster than any, but with 13:31/13:17-18, these guys showed that they can run faster. I'd love to see a set up 10000m at Brussels at the end of the season with Rhonex and Kamworor along with these three and see how close to the world record they could get. As for Wanders, he is starting to get a lot closer on the track to his half marathon performances, and here, it seems he could have run faster if there was someone running in the vicinity of 27:10. He is not there yet for sub 27, this being a perfect chance to do it, but he has made great strides on the track toward that. The world record in the 1980s was only 27:13.

That'd be cool.

Pass me the marinara sauce.
Maybe, but it's way more interesting and entertaining than a bunch of guys running 27:45...

In Stockholm it was said the weather was bad and Hagos' 27:01 was considered worth a faster time. Today's race justifies that. Given that even with a good time he was still crashed by Rhonex, how fast would Rhonex have run in this race?

The Brit and Belgian are African, not true Europeans.

Morocco has 2 under 26:50, not sure how many under 27.

Maybe you're counting ex-Moroccans Moroccans running for other countries. But I see only one under 27 on the IAAF list.

Strongly disagree that it's inherently "more interesting" to watch people run faster times. I like honest clean races and get no joy out of watching obvious frauds. What we saw today was a bunch of 27:45 guys, they just cheated to run faster.
This post was removed.
Looks like the US men only have 4 10k runners with the world standard. They would never do it but they should have sent anyone with a shot at making the team to this race. I assume conditions were good whereas they probably won't be in Iowa. Even if Chelimo runs the 10k, wins or gets top-3 he likely will miss out right?
This race was awesome -- top-8 27:02 or better & it gave some other athletes a chance to get the world standard.

Back in the day there were some foreign runners at the AAU Meet. Never at the Olympic Trials, though.

Hengelo isn't the Ethiopian Trials. It is a meet that the Ethiopians have chosen to select their 10,000 team from.
Understand?
