So I jumped your mother, and that was the end of me, but luckily you came around baby to kill some more.

I expect most to go out in sub 13:13.50 pace as they want to achieve the standard for Tokyo.

Do you even know what his PR is from a championship race after multiple races in that meet?
Yes I do.
This teen has run two back to back 3:30s - do you think he is Superman? I don't and I expect him not to run sub 13:20 (which is a great time), more like 13:30.

Why they would run a 5000 in the middle of the afternoon, I have no idea. That is insane. Put the race at night and they'd get a very fast time and louder fans. The weather forecast currently has a high of 72 and a low of 59, with showers likely. I would point out that a high of 72 is not exactly blistering. Jager ran 8 flat in the steeple with a fall in Paris on a day the mercury hit 91 by noon and was 91 at 6 p.m. On the track it was hotter. I know that Jakob is in shape and wants a fast one but then this meet just does not have a great history for fast distance races. Brussels and Rieti would be better bets.

I'm actually surprised that he did not go to heusden with his brother for their 5000.
I thought Alberto Cova ran 13:01 for the Italian record in the 80's. He also got a gold medal in 1984 in the 10,000 m. This was before there was complete African dominance like there is now and Americans and Europeans were very much in the mix.
Hey, Bros, want to fly me to London to cover this one? This race looks like a blast, there are stories all over this one.

Alberto Cova did blood transfusions and his 5000 PB was 13:10.
If it's fast, he will run fast, if slow, he will run slow. Whatever the case, he will be in the mix for the win.
McDonald 4th in 13:11 and Jacob 5th in 13:12.
Sam Parsons gonna get that w by showing what’s it like to be professional runner , and then cooling down with some babies. Maybe if Jakob made the sport as accessible as a tinman he’d have a chance , Parsons in 12:43 hail tinman
Passport... forged!
Marinara sauce... injected!
Yup... it's Rhonex time!
I've said it before and I'll say it again - Jakob should not be messing with the 5000. All clean Western runners need to stick to middle distance, they're simply unable to compete with the Italians' science experiments. Jakob should be adding some 800s to his schedule instead of 5000 meter races. He looks ready to drop a 1:42.
JI for the win in a medium fast race (13:15). No one can close over the the last 800 as him. In a fast race, HG and Rolex
Kipruto will drop the rest and go sub 12:50. It will be very exciting.
Is this the unofficial trials for the Australian 5000m team? As far as I know they haven't selected anyone and there's are all their top guns.
I will say Jakob Ingebritsen 12:52, R. Kipruto 12:54 (Will set the pace-De Facto Rabbit), Gebrihiwot 12:55
This will be pretty quick turnaround from the 10k in Hengelo for the Ethiopians.
Hopefully Jakob has the same interest in running fast that he did in Monaco last week. He has to be in sub 13 shape right now as a strength focused 3:30 guy. Plus, he is extremely consistent.

Antibo 13'05" after Cova called it quit is the record. A lifetime ago huh...

Crippa stated he's going to "destroy" (his words) the italian record (13'05"). After his 13'09" a month ago and the way he won the European cup 10,000 ten days ago (under 2'35 last km to win in 27'49", in the rain) he is another guy who's a shot at dipping under 13'
Why is Jakob even running a 5000? He may be squandering his last opportunities to break 3:30 at the end of the season. Next up will be the slow WC, and then the DLF will be too late in the season.
It happens all the time with kid phenoms, they have two great seasons and then bam, they plateau, get frustrated, injured, and ultimately they give up or try the marathon.
Gebrhiwet has something to prove after making a fool of himself last time. 12:53 outkicking GOAT 5000+ workhorse Paul Tanui's 13-ish pace.

Hardly "squandering" anything. Paris and Brussels 1500's will be just as spicy as anything seen this season. Look for him to run the 5k at Zurich as well.

Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
