Short guy with a podcast and a reedy voice. His interviewing is bad--soft, insipid, mostly promotional.
Sad his following is so weak minded.

With self-proclaimed former Area 51 employee Bob Lazar making an appearance on the Joe Rogan Podcast weeks ago, the topic of Area 51 has bubbled back to prominence for the first time in years.
Almost 700,000 Facebook users have pledged to "storm" the area in September in an effort to uncover what they believe to be some hidden unknown truth at the area,
"If we Naruto run, we can move faster than their bullets. Lets see them aliens," the Facebook group for the event says.

You used the word "insipid", but couldn't spell "blows" ?
″[Area 51] is an open training range for the U.S. Air Force, and we would discourage anyone from trying to come into the area where we train American armed forces,” Air Force spokeswoman Laura McAndrews said. “The U.S. Air Force always stands ready to protect America and its assets.”
Rogan actually is good at interviewing or more accurately getting varied guests and having entertaining conversations with them.
He is one of the best podcasters today. I only listen when he has guests I am interested in. He lets them talk and challenges them when appropriate.
He does not pretend to be more than he is.

Not a bad gig, better than the OP's late night shift at 7-11.
Rogan, Shapiro, Barstool, Clay Travis are a few examples of the dumbing down of the culture of this country. Not much depth, just fluff. And it continues the cycle of not learning and discussing things in depth or even based on facts.

This.
Joe Rogan is a tool.
Go back to your MSNBC echo chamber where you don't have to challenge your brainwashed ideas.

What? Short of publishing a book, there's no where in media where people are granted the opportunity to present their ideas more in depth than on his show. He doesn't challenge them or make them defend more than they want to because normally he can't. He's just some guy and they're the expert. It's not a debate show.

I mean it's quite clear that you can make loads of money by appealing to the lowest common denominator. This is true in almost every sector.
Money can not be used as recognition of talent or success.

OMG are you kidding me? He is possibly one of the best interviewers to ever exist. He asks questions to represent what a normal person to college graduate would be curious about in a subject they arent interested in.
You must be into like super dry stuff

I think his interviewing skills are pretty bad. He almost never challenges his guests, even when they are obviously full of crap. I listened to several of them. Because of his popularity, he gets good guests. But his "challenges" are usually a "Whoa! I didn't know that."
Sam Harris and Tim Ferriss probably get more obscure guests, but have more intelligent conversations with them and make for a better show, IMO.
The general public has spoken.
....Joe Rogan podcast at or near the top of all podcasts (which is the future of real news/long form discussions)
Quite simply, you are mistaken.
Rogan is a mile wide and an inch deep.
He's also blown here an there by every wind.
But for sure some of his interviews are interesting. Not sure about his hit rate on that, but the good ones are good.
Joe's stand up is crap. But the JRE podcast is pretty phenomenal. I think ur just a jealous twink.

That's not really a good measure. At least not in my book. You know the Kardashians are hugely popular as well, right?
And over 60 million people voted for Hilary. Just think about that for a second. Frightening.
