The only brush spikes I am aware of are these and they are from 1968:

I would like to learn more about the Nike sprint ("brush") spikes from 1995 that you refer to.
You guys realize she ran 4:14 last year or so, right?
expecting to get energy return from a shoe, especially a spike, is pointless.
Energy is stored in the arch as it flattens, and the arch then snaps back - but not as the initial driving force of the stride. Rather it is raised naturally by the windlass mechanism as the body's momentum leaves the foot behind it, raising the heel up with the toe still on the ground and pointing up relative to the arch. Until that happens, there is no point trying to rebound anything mechanically, because the last point of contact is that toe, and what accelerates the body forward and upward is muscles pushing bones forward from other bones, all the way through to the metatarsals. Nothing in the shoe has anything to do with it. You might as well try to strengthen a building by attaching a steel girder to the siding on the outside.
A good, effective spike should fit well, not slip, grip the track reliably, and be agile and flexible enough not to interfere with natural mechanics.
Grice, Blankenship, KoKo, Engels, Centro (at the Sunset meet), all three Ingebrigtsens, Muir, Debuse-Stafford, Matt Hughes and one other guy in the steeple have all been wearing similar prototypes.

Hate to break it to you but Hassan was not wearing the cheaterfly spikes. Hassan was in a different Nike prototype spike, most likely the next progression of the Nike Victory spike or a new model that will replace that line. And before you argue they are prototypes so the record is void. This prototype testing has been done by Nike and other brands for at least 12 years. Nike always released their new spikes with the summer Olympics, and can be seen testing out prototypes of the new spikes in the year or two leading up to the Olympics. This was done in 2014/2015 with the Nike Victory 3 and Matumbo 3 along with some sprint spikes.
Except its very clear she is wearing those spikes which are zoomx carbon plated prototypes. You can tell because the outsole is thick and wraps up around the foot.
pics on the nike oregon project facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/OregonPJT/I’d be more concerned about the more than likely cheater- drugs
Hassan referenced modern training and modern shoes as to why she thought world records, even the Chinese ones, were attainable. She is upfront about the advantage of being with NOP and Salazar on Nike’s campus. They are not hiding anything. The ergonomic aids such as shoes are not cheating. It is simply an advantage. What people are missing about the 4% is that it allows for harder training and saves the legs for more hard work. Would this question come up if she was American?
...er, didn't it come up all the time when Rupp went from a 2:10 to a 2:06 guy?
Pretty sure he's an American...
Careful. If you accuse a world record setter of cheating, you might get sued for cyber-bullying.

False. Only Ingebrigtsens and Muir are wearing the same shoe as Hassan.

I don’t know about the shoes, but racing in a car is definitely forbidden!

He's been wearing them since April- without a 1500m PB until yesterday.
only fair thing is to disallow all times except for Budd and Bikilia.

Carbon fiber zoom x spikes! I know they’ve been around for a bit, but now another world record falls to Nike technology... Are they fair, what do you think??
Pics of the shoes seen in this article:

That is not a pic of her her spikes or legs on the pic you post.
You have not physically inspected the spikes to know the make up.
Bottom line this post is just gibberish.

Actually, I was incorrect on Muir. He spikes have a different plate. The others are wearing the same spikes.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bz0iG3kHYR0/Oh grow up and to everyone else who complained. I ran uphill both ways 10 miles in my day to school so what.
Tracks today are far faster than they were in pre's day regardless of the type of shoe advancements. Just like better water (ie more oxygenated) has been made available to swimmers in the pool. The entire surface has changed and people are hung up on weird fetishes to blame their own shortcomings.
These "cheaterflys" don't make a 3:30 runner into a 2:30 runner. They might make a 2:30 runner into a 2:28 runner and that's great. If more people can get the best tech for racing then the playing field will actually be levelled pretty quick. This isn't a $20,000 CF bike. It's a $250 shoe. Short use shoes have been around as much as run racing has.
Stop yelling at the clouds, go do some training, and wear whatever makes you fastest come race day.
Further,
Should we all go back to barefoot days? Where do we draw the line? CF plates?
Why is the Reebok Floatrides Run Fast Pro perfectly fine yet it does't have a CF plate? They have Pebax.
Is it the foam? Should we ban TPU, TPE? just go to EVA only? This is all so silly.
Let's go wth a common middle ground and Roman sandals it is. No spikes.

The only shoes allowed in competition should look like this:
http://thumbnail.image.rakuten.co.jp/@0_mall/ebisuyap/cabinet/running/04279033/imgrc0072272909.jpgJust a thin piece of rubber and some spike for track/XC
The line is at carbon fiber plates. The sole purpose of it is to return energy.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06

Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
