Wouldn’t be surprised if Nick Symmonds goes sub 10. The secret is the gum .
Is there video anywhere? I assume no wind gauge?

On Julia Webb's Insta. Hand-timed, though. 11.7 prolly translates to an 11.9.
No way would that translate to 11.9
I know the official conversion is 0.24 but in reality it is more like 0.3 at best amd more likely 0.4 or 0.5. I have FAT timed meets where we had backup hand timers and they were consistently 0.3-0.5 seconds too fast and sometimes worse than that.
Most people are slow to start their watch and then anticipate the finish and stop the watch early. You can't trust hand times at all

Thanks. I agree with you. I was being generous even though deep down I know it should be .3-.5 slower.
I ran the video (30fps) frame by frame and Symmonds was slightly across the finish line exactly 12 seconds after smoke first appeared from the gun. Not bad - or is it, for a guy who can run 400m in 48?
I vaguely recall the video from a few months ago where he said he was scaring 11 flat off a crouch, and frame by frame it was actually 12 flat. So here he goes 12 flat - or somewhere between that and 11.97 - out of blocks. He's probably as good out of a crouch as blocks, as most of us are, so he's improved by a reaction time since then. Progress!

Not bad, he hobby jogged a 5k a few weeks ago. He's 0.3 ahead of she really he thought he was. Getting to 11.4 though is a big jump.
Awesome time. He races again next weekend I believe.
Am I blind or do you need to be an actual Instagram member to see his race? I never saw a live stream on his Instagram yesterday and i don't see anything on Julia Webbs either. Does anyone have a direct link to the race?
