Do you have any doubt that track is not 400m Rojo... serious question. This lingers year after year....

And Filip a mile I cannot find in the program.
then you need to learn how to read a program, as it is clearly listed just before the womens 5000m (6th from last event on day 2). Emsley Carr Mile, which they run every year at the London DL.

This is a bad idea. He will always be a B-list 5000 meter guy. Until WADA cracks down the Ethiopians and Kenyans are unbeatable. No way is Jakob running close to 12:50, ever.
He should be honing his 800 speed. He could be a 1:42 flat guy within two years.

lol biggest bs i've ever read. Jakob clearly was in sub13 shape last year already, but is way too slow to ever run 1:42

Should be an awesome meet.
Mostly looking forward to the men's 100m, 1500m and Javelin and the women's 200m and mile.
I'm going with Lyles in 9.78 in the 100m.
The 1500 should be an easy win for Cheruiyot in 3:27 with Jakob getting close to the European record.
The Javelin is hard to guess, but I'am hoping Rohler goes beyond 90m for the win. His throwing style is superb, although Kirt is in superb form this season so it could be a close battle.
The women's 200m is hard to call, but on the basis of this year's results I would give it to Miller-Uibo in a WL of 21.86 with Thompson in second.
The mile field isn't as good as it was supoosed to be, but I suspect Hassan wins it with a time very close to or under the current WR.
Lyles is perhaps capable of 9.78, but that's only going to happen when he gets a better start. He will run 9.78 when he happens to get a one-off really good start. Lyles has always been a poor starter as far back as high school, which is why I always assumed he would be a 200/400 guy. It not just his reaction to the gun, but his explosiveness coming out of the blocks. This is something you can improve, but only so much. Albeit, he has gotten a little better, but when he goes up against guys like Coleman and Gatlin, you see how much food he leaves on the table. Unfortunately, I don't think his start is ever going to get much better; after you run a dozen world class 100m races, your start is what it is. I think Lyles is going to will be a consistent 9.8x guy capable of winning just about any 100m that does not involve Coleman. I see his career going identical to Felix in that he will always dabble in the 100m but ultimately add the 400 and becomes a 200/400 athlete...a really good 200/400.

I also pick Jake Wightman to run 3:32.
And George Manangoi will come last of the top 8.
Oh my, NOBODY here predicted the wrong times and George's 6th place like you did! You are right about that!
Your boy got owned once again and he even cheated to try and get Tim out of the race.
Shame.
I agree with this. It's very interesting that the USA's 3 young guns all have their own event they own potentially. Coleman, Lyles and Norman. I can't see any of them dominating in 2 events or pulling the double-gold. It's a shame WVN/Kirani James are struggling so much because I don't see these guys getting pushed in their dominant event by anyone else. I suppose Gardiner, Ronnie Baker (where's he?), Makwala (not around either), Gatlin and Bloomfield et al. could factor. I see Coleman hitting 9.70, Lyles 19.50 again, and Norman 43.60 and I'm not sure anyone is that close to them.

It will help, but they test so much now, it may be enough.

Yeah, I was completely wrong and everybody was confident that it would be a couple of seconds slower than Laussanne. Jakob goes home devastated after coming half-a-second behind Tim. Sleep well and no obscene comments in the middle of the night. Peace :)

im guessing you missed the "All-Time 800m Best 2-Race Average" part of his post? Remember kids, reading is fundamental.
Yeah, but moonshot just made up the list so that Amos would be clear of Coe in 3rd, instead of joint 3rd with him. He did it just to get at me. Everything he does is aimed at me.
Wonder what 79-81 Coe would have done in that race on that track? 1:40 for sure.
“He made up facts to make me mad!”
My take on this meet.
Sifan is going to make an outstanding marathoner. She reminds me of Kipchoge, where he was great on the track, and was able to pull out a championship win, but was always behind Bekele and El G. Hassan has insane range, and is the Ethiopian version of Mary Decker. That is how Salazar is training her. But unfortunately she is running in the Era of Dibaba, Kipyegon, and Obiri, which makes it hard for her to win championships. But her work on the track will translate into her breaking records as a marathoner.
- I still don't see anyone with the whole package to beat beat Faith Kipyegon
- Muir has crazy range as well, and ran an excellent 800m. I know she is moving up to 5000, and probably 10000m, will she make a move to the marathon one day? I don't see her getting a medal at 1500m. It's too stack, but she might have a chance to pull out a medal at 5000m.
- Timothy won again. He is a very fluid runner. However, will it be the same old story with him: winning the league events, but losing in the championship races? You can't hold a peak forever. Will he still be strong in September?
- The 100m race proved that Coleman is the best in the world, but Gatlin will be there for theSilver, and maybe even gold if Coleman makes a mistake.
- Miller is the best 200m runner in the world, and it is not even close. Thompson is an excellent 200m runner herself, but her main focus is 100m. Thompson, historically, has a faster time. But with the shape that Miller is in ,and her consistency, I don't see anyone else being able to really challenge her except for Thompson. Thompson had another good race, and is doing the right running to make sure she will be in top form come the WC.
- Amos is a beast, but he lacks consistency. There is no question about how talented he is, and would be able to run faster if his arm swing wasn't all over the place. But I still think Korir will get the gold, with Amos taking silver, and Brazier getting bronze.
- Syd the kid is going to destroy the 400m hurdles. I think we can all agree on that. Now, can she challenge at 400m? I personally think that miller is overrated at 400m, and that Asner is going to take the gold when it all comes down to it.
- Harrison doing what she does best in the hurdles, and that is win all the non-championship events. Will she be there in the WC, or will she choke again? I say yes, Brianna Mcneal is the better finisher.
- USA Women are in trouble in the sprints. The men will probably dominate 100- 400m, but the women might not even medal in the 100 or 200. Without Tori Bowie, there is no one else, and Tori is not even in 10 second shape. IN August, USA women have to show something, and get better quickly. In the 100s, Thompson- talou- Asher smith, and in the 200s, Miller, Thompson, and Asher Smith, as well as Ta Lou. And Shelly Ann is back running well, so she will be in the conversation.

Look at the 800 pr's of the Ingebrigtsens. None are close to what you might expect for 3:30-32. The reason is that they do not train at sub mile pace, unless you count short sprints and hill repeats. They could do it, I am sure, but it would involve changing up their training quite a bit. Jakob can run sub 13.
