The team and Megan speak a good game but don't really follow through in it. She speaks about diversity and exclusiveness but she really doesn't mean it. Diversity of thought ? Heaven forbid! There was a black player who was on the team but when she would not wear some kind of Gay Pride shirt - she was not allowed on the team. Being a devout Christian she was uncomfortable with it. Megan and her teammates would have nothing to do with someone like this black player.

You mean if she "goes" to the white house.
There's no reason to go there to see such a moron who's a total jacka$$ to everyone.
Goofball, spend an hour or two reading the comments on HuffPo stories. You're living your entire life in one bubble, so much so that all you can see if the other bubble. Your bubble is just as ugly as the other.

Wejo, back away from the pipe.
Once again you are criticizing her past actions and not her speech.
And the "most best" speech thing was an honest mistake. I LOVER her speech despite not being a fan of hers previously.
I tend to agree with poster above. A lot of people across the political spectrum live in a bubble. And they rip apart the other side in a sense of moral superiority. Both sides do it.
Did you have to argue with Rojo about starting this thread? I can't see this getting his approval.

This thread just a reminder how awful people (men) are in this place.
A thread praising Megan Rapinoe started by a guy who once wrote a piece on here about why he voted for George W Bush is an example of how bad men are? What?
I think you don't like seeing any viewpoints you don't agree with.

I'd like to point out that Rojo is not without sin in this regard. There is a thread about a rare rogue police officer that seems to have been planted by Rojo (the OP) perhaps to draw out ugly and venomous posts about police officers. Truly ugly and dispiriting posts in that thread mostly.
Which is fine if these forums are truly open for all. Are they truly open for all though?

There is no question that wejo is the absolute king of troll bait . He brought out the trolls with a vengeance today . The “ most best speech “ was an epic turn of a phrase . I almost ( emphasis almost ) actually believed he liked the speech until I realized it as click bait !
I back the blue. The police aren't the problem in this country. But they need to be held to a very high standard.
I started the thread because I thought it was interesting. I'm not afraid to start threads that might lead to people saying things I don't agree with.
Fair enough and I too back the blue. I enjoy the free for all and genuine free thought seems more available here than many other places on the web. LRC is one of the few places where people are not simply echoing with others in their own bubble. That comes at the price of vitriol and the need for very thick skin. Those who aren't comfortable outside of their own bubbles seem to be the ones who complain the most about LRC. The world needs more places like the current LRC, not less.

Megan Rapinoe’s WHAT gave one of the best speeches?
I don't follow soccer, either mens or women's. I'm sure they are all outstanding athletes at that level, just no interest. I also don't watch football, basketball, golf or baseball. I watch hockey once and a while but only when the Bruins are in the playoffs. Every Bruins goal comes with a free jello shot at one of the local watering holes I go to on occasion with my wife. Relative to Ms. Rapinoe, I didn't watch the speech. But from what I have read about some of the comments she made during the tournament and following, and the fact that someone appeared to have disrespected the flag.............I'll make it a point to continue to avoid women's soccer...........at least as long as the makeup of this specific team stays the same. Won't make any difference to them anyway. They had their 15 min of fame.

Most of the REPLIES, numbnuts. Are you really this dense?!

Point out a Huffington Post website page where I can see comments beneath a news story.
Then also go to foxnews-dot-com (a news site), and scroll beneath ANY news story.
This woman is a hateful, arrogant and nasty woman. And a huge hypocrite. But throwing around f-bombs and trashing Trump makes her a hero to the woke leftists.
So disappointed they won.

I agree with this generally, but not as a blanket statement.
I am right of center but can be critical of Republicans. I was never a fan of McCain nor Flake.
I used to have no regard for Donna Brazile, but she owned up to her feeding HRC miscue and while i still don’t generally agree with her will acknowledge that the positions she takes are usually pretty well reasoned
Thank you. This is spot on. Oh, and then there’s this:
https://www.dailywire.com/news/49375/us-womens-soccer-team-accused-snubbing-star-player-hank-berrien?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=benshapiroIntolerant, disingenuous, whiny, privileged leftists who play a sport that nobody cares about, except every four years, and the purple-people eating monster has the audacity to say let’s come together. She espouses a character of hate. I wonder if they care about the treatment of gays and women in Muslim countries.
I can't believe you have anything of substance to offer after seeing that you said that soccer is a sport that no one cares about. That's laughably false.

Women’s soccer.
Beyond the other comments I've made in this thread, I wanted to mention a few things about this speech.
I love that in this country, people like this can speak however they want. It's not a lot different from how some people use Twitter, if you think about it.
And anyone commenting on the validity of soccer, while holding onto the shared belief around here that anyone actually cares about distance running, can put a sock in it. Soccer is the biggest sport in the world, has been for a long time, and will be even bigger in the future. And if you didn't notice, distance events are no longer as prevalent in track meets, or don't exist at all.
Some are moving forward, others being left behind. Keep that in mind.
